Power For Dashcam?

For anyone that got the BlackVue 900X, did you get a SIM card with the CM100LTE module? Or did you have to get the SIM from a local carrier?
It should come with the sim and work out of the box. I think you have to use the BlackVue sim and register service through them.

Installed the Viofo 129 pro duo tonight without issue. Tapped into F33 (constant, red wire) and F66 (switched, yellow wire) to have full 24/7 mode. Pretty happy with the video quality.

Good to know, that's what I have sitting on the shelf waiting on the truck to be delivered.

Yeah, mine didn't come with a SIM. I got an email out to support. Hopefully they get me something.
According to the website, it doesn't come with a SIM. You need to contact your carrier to have one sent to you.

Weird. I have the 750X LTE and it came with the blackvue sim card. I assumed the 900X would as well. Looking at the website it appears @SexyRexy is correct. the LTE module is separate and does use your carriers sim card. I wonder why this not standardized across models...

Sorry for the bad info!

Hey @Half Black Viking ... are you sure you're not confusing the memory card your dash cam comes with the sim card?

Again... according to the website, your DR750X-2CH LTE doesn't come with a sim card as well.

I had no clue there were so many variations and they are different by country…you had me second guessing my sanity. I have a 3 week old and a 20 month old… running on fumes over here.

This is the one I ordered and it did come with a actual SIM card and I bought an upgraded SD card with 128g storage.

Oh, wow... ok. Looks like a slight price difference if you get the version without the SIM card on Amazon.

I installed my Vantrue N4 last night (upgraded from the N2 Pro from other vehicles) and It was pretty easy. I'm running my power from the fuse box underneath the steering wheel with their low voltage hardwire kit. I am pulling direct battery feed from Micro Fuse 54A&B. When the fuse is inserted into the "A" slot...the power provided will be battery feed (good for Parking Mode). On the opposite end, when inserted into the "B" slot, dashcam/12V (12V near windshield) will only provide ignition power.

Here is a youtube video (I do not own the rights to this video) that was helpful for me:
How do you like your N4? I just ordered one and went with the ODB power option - not sure if there was a reason you did not go that route? Just wondering as I like learning and if I need to go with another power option, I will.

Vantrue 10ft Type C USB OBD Hardwire Charger Cable for Vantrue N4, E1, E1 Lite, E2, S2-3CH, S2-2CH, N2S, X4S, T3 Dash Cam and Other Type C USB Power Port Dash Cams https://a.co/d/hhxG9w7

I used the Dongar Technologies dash cam adapter. It attaches to the cable that supplies power to the forward array that sits behind the rearview mirror. Basically unplug the array, attach this "Y" into the existing cable and there you go. Very convenient and super clean install. No wires visible.

I've had mine installed for about a year now and zero issues. It works well.

They sell on Amazon as well. About $35 for the adapter.

What dash cam and what adapter (on amazon) do you have? I’m considering a dash cam…

I like it. The only thing I wish it did was offer live feed from an app or cloud storage. Unfortunately, i would need to go with one of their other cameras to gain those features or even just a different brand. I’ve had no issues with my N4 and I have it set up pretty clean. I didnt go with the OBD hardwire connection for two reasons. (1) I don't Remember if that was an option at the time of purchase of my N4 and (2) I would rather not utilize so access could still be had if servicing is needed. The fuse option I felt was more ideal for how I wanted my setup to be. No unplugging needed unless it’s just that one fuse With problems. Just my opinion but when comparing the two sources of power, I’d assume that the OBD port would require more access than the fuse area.
At the end of the day, all comes down to personal preference really.

As I wait for my truck, where is everyone pulling power for their dashcam? On my current truck I tapped into the fuse box under the glovebox but not sure about the TRX. Garmin makes an OBD2 adaptor for camera power as well. Thanks

.
I have a BlackVue DR900X-2CH Plus Dual-Channel Cloud Dash Cam. I hardwired the BlackVue Power Magic Ultra Battery Pack (B-124X) to the fuze box underneath the steering column and then connected my dash cam to the battery pack.

Where did you install the battery ? Glovebox ?

Thanks and I thought I’d try the connector first but actually turned around and ordered the hardwire kit right after posting this - I’m more old school wiring wise ;-)
