I’m curious as to what minimum level security you would need to feel comfortable parking your truck outside at a hotel or airport. Those are the two spots people here seem most afraid of. And more specifically, closer geographically to the border or ports.

If you have IGLA/Ravelco + Compustar, do you still worry about being towed?

The feeling of not being able to drive this truck anywhere isn’t very fun.

What I’ll say after having my ‘22 stolen from a Ritz Carlton valet, if I EVER have to park my ‘23, I will pull both the fuel pump relay, and the ignition relay, and ensure I keep my key fob and not let the valet company keep my keys.
I did this exact thing in Kansas City while traveling a month ago, they let me park right in front of the hotel, and they took my number down in case they needed me to come move it for any reason.

Fuck airports. Completely.

That is only a very minor setback for thieves actually. All the relays are the same and you don’t need a/c, high beams ect and they just move them over. Pulling and replacing them over and over is also not a good idea because the fuse panel/tipm isn’t designed to do so.

If you have an IGLA and compustar alarm there isn’t a need to worry that much. Disabling the neutral pull and having your parking brakes set to turn on when you park is about as secure as you can get without an armed guard. Not only will you get alerted on you cellphone, smart watch and remote but everyone around them will be too. Can also make it even better with interior piezo “pain generator” that will make them deaf.

I’m going to google “pain generator” right now. I hope to God that it comes with a big-ass bedside decal, because if it does then I’m buying one.

Ugh, that’s awful. It wouldn’t matter what kind of protection you have if it’s an inside job. Did you have anything installed at that time?
Even with a Ravelco, I don’t know if I am being realistic or overly paranoid not wanting to take it certain places
Unfortunately no, I didn’t have anything installed at the time

Well, this is fair, but they’d have to take the time to pop the hood, get into the fuse box, and see that those were removed. It was just a momentary fix till I get the RAVELCO.
I wasn’t aware it would cause issues, I appreciate that knowledge!

Hard to get a clear grasp of how insane it is in person over a video. Installed inside the a/c vent makes it even better 😬😊

What part of Utah are you in?

I have ravelco, compustar and two modes of tracking systems. I wouldn’t park any of my cars at the airport. Take a Uber or car service, it’s likely cheaper than paying for the fees anyway.

Car theft from lots while you are away is less about “how much protection would you allow to park there” and more about “how long does your car have to be somewhere stationary to be a target”

Is it worth the risk to come back with a window busted at the minimum. I’m good. They steal any car, not just these. If the Corolla isn’t safe, they aren’t having a go at my truck either.

Thanks for the info on the "PAIN GENERATOR".

Give the investor of any such device an award.

I am still with my new truck in the garage until IGLA/Compustar can be installed.

Although an immobilizer and tracking devices would likely prevent theft, it might not necessarily prevent forced entry and vandalism to the interior. I would be very interested in something that would provide some damage to the low-life types who break and enter with impunity. Permanently ruptured, bleeding ear drums, a Agent-Orange and/or Tear-Gas dispenser in the cabin would have my interest.

Give some real meaning to "theft deterrent" warning in conjunction with immobilizer and tracking.

For hotels I just ask the front desk if I can park in the front. If a valet I'll give him a big tip to park with the fancy cars in front (did this recently at Grand Hyatt near Seattle). . I had a park at a sketchy Hilton in Missoula Montana and just told front desk I'd appreciate it if I could park under the front door awning and he said sure. I do this with my motorcyles as well.

One benefit of having such a huge truck as sometimes they have no choice. W Hotel and Four Seasons in Seattle they can't get my truck in the garage lol; so I always get the prime spots there if I'm hanging at the bar there or a date night.

If all else fails I park where I can see the truck out of my hotel window.

I just did a 21 trackhawk 2 weeks ago and put a full compustar system in with T13 remote kit, exterior main siren, another siren on a secondary programmed siren circuit in the drivers footwell and then the piezo pain generator. The secondary circuit allows the interior sirens to work in conjunction with the exterior only on an alarm event and not when you lock/arm, remote start ect. He actually wanted more than that inside it. He is from Chicago and moved here to Louisville for work so he knows its a problem and wants them to be hurting, literally 😂

I live and work in Radcliff. Wheels, tires, suspension, accessories, full security, remote start ect. I try to stay out of the ville if I have to. Only go for benefit car shows, kygunco, alpha guns, va appointments and driving through that whole mess 😂
