Oil Control Valve

Looking to replace the oil control valve on my own. Dealership stated they won’t replace unless there’s a code.

In the photos you can see the black plastic housing is melted. The newer updated part is metal.

My question is can I replace the sensor without completely removing the supercharger and just simply lifting the front as if I was replacing the supercharger bearing.
