Motor knock at 20k miles

The first oil leak was a loose oil filter that I got almost a full turn on by hand. The second leak was the quick connect oil line fitting on the oil cooler that I was able to reseat and stop. The third leak is out of the weap hole on the bottom of bell housing. I clean up the bottom of the bell housing every day and have noticed that the leak is slowing down. Could be leftover oil from the engine swap that pooled inside the bell housing. I currently have fluorescent uv die in the oil to see if the leak stops or turns fluorescent yellow.

All of the missing bolts and fastener have been replaced by the shop, they also found and installed the missing pulley that was still on the old motor and replaced the belts. I am due in next week for an oil change and engine oil leak inspection. Wish me luck!

Good job checking things out for yourself. Can't trust anybody to do a job correct in this day and age. Glad you got it back. Hopefully smooth sailing going forward. Good luck 🤞👍🏻

So, total time to change the motor on my trx was 181 days. 5 months of that time they had the truck in their possession. So sad and frustrating that this is what warranty service has degraded to. My next challenge will be getting 5 months of payments back or they can have the truck back thru the California lemon law.
I'm starting the research process now that I have a total time line from start to finish. I'm guessing getting a lemon law lawyer will be step 1.....

So sorry man. The emotional toll alone merits tens of thousands in compensation.

Best wishes!

Well, I reached out to Ram Cares about monthly payment reimbursement and they denied my request. I am currently working with a law firm on my California lemon law options. More to come.

It would be difficult to be in your in your shoes, sorry bud. I assume based only off of reading similar stories like yours that they drag it out to trial, or settle right away. Either way, hope you win.

I have been researching the lemon law process and reading reviews of Cali lemon law firms. If Ram settled with me at the beginning, on my initial request for compensation, I would come out better not having to give up a % of my settlement to the firm. Hiring the lemon law lawyers generally cost 33% to 50% of the reimbursement money depending on the firm and the complications of the case. Hourly rate is $400 to $600 an hour according to what i read but normally the contingency rate average is just under 40% of the settlement. One of the negative aspects of the process is the law firms claiming that you will not pay because the Dealer/Manufacturer coveres the lawer fees, however when the settlement is issued, the fees come out of the settlement amount. Seems like some trickery to get you to bite on the bait. I will clarify all of this as I move forward with the process, I will share what I can.

I picked a firm in southern Cali, made contact with them and spent about 3 hours scanning and emailing documents. They requested all the repair invoices, vehicle purchase contract, vehicle registration, copy of my driver's license and requested I forward all of my email correspondence with ram cares. Now that they have all the paperwork, they are reviewing my case.
So now we wait.....

Bad news for me. The waiting until the factory warranty ran out killed my lemon law qualification. The factory warranty covered part of the motor replacement, the extended warranty picked up the rest, but disqualified me from any compensation. My mistake was listening to the service dept tell me to keep driving the truck if i didn't have any drivabity issues. I didnt, so i kept driving the truck and i drove it right out of any compensation i might have qualified for. Just reporting an issue means nothing until it is diagnosed and confirmed. I reported at 20k, problem was diagnosed and confirmed outside of factory warranty. The engine replacement was 100% coveted. But the 6 months it took to get the motor replaced is what it is......a post covid shit show. I was hopeful I could receive some compensation for the 6 months the truck was down, but that was not the case. I believe the deciding factor was the that the conformation diagnoses was during the extended warranty period.
