Well, she is dying a horrible death. I first reported an unusual ticking noise at 20k miles. Took it to the dealer. They were unable to identify the noise and told me to keep driving it. The noise slowly became louder over the next 40k Miles. I took it back to the dealer twice to report the noise getting louder, at 63k they finally put it on the rack and pulled the pan. They found a rod slapping side to side.
I am currently waiting to hear back on warranty coverage. They have had the truck for 4 weeks now.
Has anyone else had rod bearing failure on a stock unmodified motor?

wow what dealership is that so everyone can avoid them? holy cow even if the warranty is denied the dealership owes you a new motor.

i have almost 50K miles on my unmodified motor and no issues. Runs like new though feels like it is pulling timing in this Georgia heat.

damn that sucks, how often did you change the oil? Also hopefully you have paperwork from dealer showing your brought it in at 20k miles and they informed you to keep driving it. When it comes down to warranty issues having anything in writing from dealer is worth its weight in gold. Most likely will have to go to RamCares and another dealer, but obviously you had a issue when you were at 20k miles!

Thanks for the post with pictures.

Had to be a California dealership! Unbelievable! I do hope that they make it right and easy for you to get it repaired.

Hope you have oil change records from new, cause they are probably going to ask for them, insane that the oil change interval is 6 months..........................

Yes, in California..... Dealer I bought the truck from preformed all oil changes. I just found out yesterday that the other bearings are spun too. The service advisor indicated that he has been in touch with the "service contract" and needs to get additional notes..... I'm not sure what that means. He did mention last week that the extended warranty inspector looked at the truck but didnt make a judgment and that they may put the claim on the factory warranty due to the fact that the problem was reported and documented at 20k even though the truck now has 63k. I'm still in limbo waiting to see who is gonna foot the repair bill.....

They took possession of the truck on May 28th. I'm concerned that we are 42 days in on this and all we know is the extent of the damage. No word on the plan to repair or who will pay.

RAM Cares.....

Only reason we still have our TRX after dealer antics and losing complete faith in the dealership folks involved.

Open a case with RC and get ahead of this mess. Know first hand the leverage/attention they suddenly pay to a repair once an aggressive RC Advisor calls. RC also made clear similar vague + ambiguous Service department comments (re: "in touch with service contract/they 'may' put the claim on factory warranty...No word on the plan to repair or who will pay). My assigned Rep. was excellent and outstanding on all fronts.

Thankfully it's stock, t'was the leading question the first dealership kept questioning when I had an unresolved cooling issue/repeat visits and loss of coolant (and they were obviously trying to skirt more involvement/warranty coverage).

I reached out to ram cares with a private message. I will keep this thread updated as things progress.

2022 and after six months and 6000 miles, my truck shuts itself off and the alert says throttle system failure. Had it towed to my dealership which by the way I did not buy the truck from, to make a long story short, there was a bearing in my supercharger that failed, and it spit out parts that went into the intake manifold and then into the cylinder head and then into the catalytic converters.

My dealership gave me a loaner truck and successfully lobbied to the factory to have a brand new motor, a brand, new supercharger, and brand new catalytic converter all that had been destroyed by this part failure.

Four months later I get the call the truck is ready, go up there return the courtesy car sign the nine page manifest and the last page bottom right hand corner and it said zero!

Well, here we are, October 8th, diving into month 5 and they still have the truck. The good news is they have parts in hand and are in the process of pulling the cab.
Seems the factory warranty and extended warranty are working together on covering the cost. I have read about different compensation possibilities, the truck note refunds, rental refunds, California lemon law options, and flat out cash settlements with free $0 deductible extended warranty.
I have body modification inside and out, I really don't want to give up the truck and start over. With notes at $1700 a month, the truck note refunds would ease the pain some. I'm still reading up on others experiences with my situation. More to come.

Man the way Ram takes care of these total failures makes me sick, NFW I could go 5-6 months waiting for a repair, thats insane. This stuff should be fast tracked and a like for like similar loner given out free of charge for sure.

So questions for anyone who's went through similar.

Do dealers/ does RAM instantly start looking for ways to deny covering it under warranty?
Yes

I confess I have not gone through this, but from reading several threads, it seems to depend on the dealer and sometimes the circumstances. Some do, some don't.

Its been 135 days since i dropped off the truck and my DRONE app just pinged for the first time. The truck is alive, the ignition is on and the motor is running! Seems the motor is installed and being tested! Finally, I can see daylight at the end of the tunnel!

That sucks but on the bright side it will be like getting a new truck after not having it for 6 months :)

Got word yesterday that they are waiting on 2 cab bolts. Seems they are 1 time use only. Hopefully they come in soon and I can get my truck back. However, I am not looking forward to the breaking in process and finding all the installation issues that will undoubtedly pop up......

Update:
Got the truck back and noticed oil dripping on my floor the next morning. So I started looking and found 3 different oil leaks, a missing pulley on the front of the motor, 2 bolts missing on the transmission, various fasteners in various locations also missing.
