Hi, i was wondering and I haven’t followed the market but any thoughts on what you think the future holds for resale values on say the ignition or sandblast vs a standard color level 2. Not sure how the launch editions are holding up, that might be an indication if their is a long term advantage in having a limited model or maybe not. Besides ADM’s i don’t believe the limited trucks have a premium, so is production numbers enough to make a difference in the long run? Thanks

I'm a boring man when it comes to colors, I don't want anything fancy so I won't pay premium for those limited editions.

I love the color of the launch, the other 2 neither love nor hate. I’d take them, but not paying the premium for them.

Hi, if both are equally loaded is there a premium from the manufacturer on limited models? , i don’t remember if there was on my IE, i just remember not having a choice in options. Thanks

I.m not sure but I think the limited color did have a higher msrp on sticker. I know some dealership were charging sticker msrp and some have a 20 to 30k adm on top of the sticker price.

I think the special editions are 5k more MSRP than a similarly equipped level 2

I’m pretty sure the mojave is 9k+ more than level 2.

There will probably always be a bit of a premium to the special editions in the private market. Just have to find the right buyer. I doubt the dealerships would give you anything extra vs a similarly equipped Level 2 though.

Personally, I wouldn't want the orange one, but would have loved to order the sandblast color scheme if it was an options instead of my granite, which i do love.

The Sandblast was a $9200 package. But you can build any Level 2 with semi-equivalent additional options to those included in the Sandblast (advanced safety, bed, carbon, pano, graphics, beadlocks) and it’s within a thousand bucks difference. The real price premium would come from dealer markups and not the special edition package itself. I’m sure they will be more collectible in the future but depending upon how much one overpaid new, they may never get it back.

Limited editions will always bring more money. period.

Now whether they'll bring as much more than what they cost extra remains to be seen. it will all depend on how desirable these things remain and how old we'll be when they are whether it matters.

I agree an ADM is money lost on a trx or any full production vehicle, i was thinking with all things being equal 5 years from now does a limited bring more than a standard color in a trade in. Im not sure that happens and when i see these LE’s being sold at crazy numbers im trying to understand the thought process, do people think when paying these ADM’s that these trucks will hold their values better and they will get some sort of a premium over time that will make up the difference. Thanks

I think trading in any special edition vehicle at any dealer at any time in history is a certain way to make sure it doesn’t have more value

Dealers will almost never value the rarity of a vehicle on a trade in, but will on resale.

I’m putting 4000 mile per month on mine, edition has zero chance of increasing the value of mine.

to chime in on this older post, it seems as if the sandblast and lunar hold their value incredibly well, fetching more than a similarly equipped level 2 with similar mileage of a different color would get. 1 interesting note is the ignition (orange) seems to somewhat be a negative in terms of value, as i'm seeing them go for a little less than similar equipped mileage vehicles.
