HELP! California Refused To Register My TRX

the dumb part is that months after the DMV realized and needed to re verify it the truck already had over 8k miles but they wouldn't do it because their paperwork said it was under 4k
If you have over 7,500 miles now you should be good, just have to restart the process. If not DM me and I can see what my boy says. I don’t even have to wait in line at DMV if I let him know before I show up. He helped me with mine as I got mine from a forum dealer out of state also

problem is there's no paperwork for me to start with the only paperwork is the one from the dealer from the purchase date and that paperwork says the truck had 4k miles on it.
You think I could still restart the process?

It shouldn’t matter what the mileage was when purchased. It just needs to have 7500 miles on it to register in California if not a carb vehicle. There may also be a limit as to how new but can’t recall. If you have over the 7500 miles you should be able to get it to be registered as long as it passes smog and weight.

When the do the vin verification it has over 7500 miles. So you might just need to restart the paperwork and smog.

That paperwork with 4k miles shouldn't matter, you could've drove to Alaska and back to get it pass the 7500 miles for all they care, just start the registration again wheb you pass the 7500 mark.

Yes the over 7500mi thing works and need to register it as a used car. I just did mine new w the CA sticker and had no problem. But I almost got the wrong sticker truck. I also brought an 07 salvage Charger in to CA in 08 w 10K on it and no problems, of course had to do more inspections for salvage. When I brought my TRX in they asked the day it entered CA. I drove from out of state, they said I only have 20 days to register from that day brought in to CA. But the only date they could prove is that same day I did the VIN verification. I could have waited longer. But my papers came in soon enough. But the DMV site has good info on their site about used car registration requirements. I did a smog and no issues. I wouldn't worry about that. It's cheap. But also you could get a private DMV place to do it. Or Possibly AAA, but they wouldn't do my new truck but maybe used out of state not sure. Good luck. 🤘

My friend bought a Durango out of state, but had the CA sticker BUT the dealer refused to give him the paper work with in 30 days, so the temp tag was expired and cost him $1,100 more to register it in California due to the expired temp plate. So you may get hit with a big late fee, but if over 7,500 miles now it should be no problem as long as you do the smog etc(Smog will tell DMV it's over 7,500 miles).

I've never seen a 50 statesticker under my hood.
If I have one I would be happy to try to send it to you as I live in America lol

I had to have the dealer check under the hood. It's there. I saw them say yes and no to CA. As lame as CA is more states are adopting the damn rules. You could move, but who knows how long it'd last.

im moving to Clovis Ca in 3.5 years from AZ. My truck sticker clearly says "not for sale in california" but ill have the 7500 miles by then!

Haha I’m going to Tennessee the end of the month to prospect a new area. California keeps getting worse and worse if that even possible! Fly into Nashville and gonna recon some areas while there to see how it is.

Isn't AZ registration good for a few years? Renew early if they'll let you before moving to CA.

I believe Vermont will let you register it there with an out of state address. Google it.

Tennessee just passed a new law that makes it prohibitively expensive for Californians to come. I believe it's a $20k per person fee. You might consider relocating elsewhere.
