Evil Manufacturing OR GJ Motorsports 3rd brake light

How will this light help me? Is it to blind people who aren’t social distancing in the Starbucks drive through? Can I use it to
Intimidate tailgaters? Can I make them blink and hang my head out the window making a wee woo wee woo sound and drive like I’m on my way to a fire?

inquiring minds want to know…

in all seriousness…. I don’t off-road… wish I could but that’s another story…. What are these lights purpose?
They are 95% for off roading and mostly needed in the southwest. You turn these on when the dust is so thick that it creates a visibility issue with people behind you not being able to see you.

Alternatively, you could put clear lenses on the lights and hook them up to the cargo light system.

There should be at least the bed camera in the 3rd brake light with level 2
Of course I forgot to double check earlier. Tomorrow for sure. I’m pretty confident the only rear view camera I can punch up on the screen is the one in the tailgate. Level2, no tech, no advanced safety.

Yup, 95% for offroad usage for low visibility conditions. 5% for intimidating tailgaters (not that I recommend that or will ever admit to doing so in a court of law).

Any half-decent offroad group will require you have some sort of chase lights on a run. Moving fast on the trail can kick up a lot of dust very quickly and then it becomes a safety issue if you can’t see the truck you’re supposed to be following.

Removed the rear hooks View attachment 18024

went with the rigid SL-R spreader with red halo.

Didn’t want to lose the tow hooks.

also wired the red halo light to the brake lights

Amber s2s wired up to aux6 and red s2 wired to brake pedal light. Easy install, a little trimming but not enough to prevent you from putting the oem 3rd brake light back in. Pretty dang happy with the Evil Mfg light. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Difficulty of install was 2/5 wrenches

I have an evil Mfg one on my zr2… I know Doug. He is a good dude… he can’t say no and gets overwhelmed sometimes.

that being said, I’d get the GJ version.

So technically they are called “dust lights” to keep people from slamming into you when railing trails in the high desert…. Or snow.

I was driving north I-5 in my Colorado and it was pea soup fog.
Like you couldn’t see 20 feet.
And cars were stopped in the middle of the freeway. So when slowing down trying to get through the mess nimbskulls we’re still driving 50-60 mph…
I left mine on so people would see me.

some of us tested which lenses to use. Spots were the best as a dust light and could be seen the furthest in dust and snow.

So do they still function as the 3rd brake light when driving around town? Are the bed lights/trail lights turned on via the Aux switches?

These look awesome, but I don't offroad much unfortunately.

Yes. They will have a set of red led lights in them as well. The evil ones are stupid bright.

most times they will offer a spot toThread in a ham or cb antennae as well.
I have a stubby dual band ham on my evil
Mfg one.

They look great! But Is there a way to adjust the lights? They shine directly in your bed.

Evil has all of his lights focused low…

Does anyone have experience with Evil Manufacturing's 3rd brake light on these trucks?

I have absolutely no good reason to buy one of these, yet now I want one. Shit!

Can you post some pics of the truck when it’s light out? Just curious how it looks on the truck.

No they are in a fixed location, you wouldn't want them facing directly backwards or the people behind you would be blinded by them.

Here is a evil Mfg on my zr2. The thin antennae is for the radio and gps etc. the thick rod looking thing is actually a Ham dual band. It’s really really good. I was suprised at how well it worked. I’m sure if you were to nitpic about distances and trying to bounce off clouds etc sure… but for normal people it’s awesome.
