engine break-in

You guys make me feel bad, my dealership is 2 exits down the interstate. I'm planning out my 500 mile maiden voyage to get the break in done ASAP though. Wife and I will be taking a road trip with the intent to be able to use Launch Control before I get home!

Why would they say to avoid hard braking. I haven’t seen this in a recommendation before.

And I giggle like a 13 year old girl when pulling shenanigans. This is going to be difficult to follow

I would light them up if they did this. I might ask them to plug it in to verify
The manual says launch mode does not work for the first 500 miles

I'm with you that I would be pissed, but realistically I'm not going to refuse the truck if a porter did a pull in the back lot as there isn't another truck that I can take instead. I'm going to do my best to figure out the day that my truck is going to arrive and take the day off to sit at the dealer and wait until it gets there so I can be the first to drive it but the chances I keep the vehicle speed below 55 for the first 100 miles is exactly zero. It's going to be my daily driver and if I drove below 70 on the highways around me I would literally cause an accident

Tires are slick brand new & probably bedding in the brake pads but some would offer the opposite recommendation for that.

This^. Launch mode is literally inaccessible until you hit 501 on the ticker.

I don’t know about dodge but every other car I have had logged every launch event. I’m probably going to tell my sales rep that I will want to see the delivery receipt with mileage on it. If possible I want to be there when it comes off the truck and will wait while they get it ready.
If they come wrapped in plastic, perhaps tell them no plastic comes off except by you when you arrive. Hopefully that prevents the tinkering...just a thought.

You can push the lauch button all you want. It will not engage. You also dont get the full 702HP until break in at 501 miles.
I know because I am breaking in my second one. The first I drove for 2900 miles. I wanted the Diamond Black so I ordered one with every option and sold the latter one to my neighbor. Theyre pricey so everyone wants to be the first to stomp it. Dont worry. The dealer cant launch it. As far as break in, I drove my first one like it was already broke in.
