Don't valet your truck

Accidents can happen anywhere, anytime I'm staying at a nice hotel in a downtown area I use valet parking... I wouldn't throw my keys at some random attendant at a restaurant, but if I'm paying $500/night for a hotel room I trust that the hotel does a little more interrogation in its hiring process.

As mentioned previously, that usually ensures it isn't sitting in a normal public garage space with idiots flinging doors or scumbags looking to break windows...

This weekend I was downtown St Louis and my truck sat in front of the hotel the whole time it was valeted with the audis/porsche/bmws.

I have never had an issue with the Valets when I pull one to the side, tell them where I am parking and that I will take care of them in the end. 99% of the time, my cars end up right in front where they can be seen with no car smashed up against it.

I agree with this statement as now you will have an accident reported on your carfax.
x3 agree! the accident will definitely hurt the resale and even if you’re not planning on selling might be worth a discussion

Do NOT valet these trucks. Not only do these idiots not know how to drive our trucks, they will ACTIVELY drive it like maniacs because of what it is, and you run the risk of some ghetto morons working for the valet company assist with thieves stealing your truck like they did mine. DONT DO IT.

And even if the valet guys aren't part of a theft ring, they still leave the key fobs hanging on a podium stand for the whole world to sniff the signal. I have Ravelco, but that doesn't do any good at a valet (unless you train the valet guy how to unplug/re-plug it).
Whenever I go somewhere that is valet-only, I find a parking garage nearby and walk.

Sorry about your truck man, that sucks--- I would lose it! I don't think it's been mentioned in this thread but these trucks have a "valet mode". It reduces engine power, disables launch mode, etc. It obviously wouldn't prevent all possible damage but should at least help you avoid someone going for a joyride in it.

Those idiots driving it around a downtown city center aren't treating it nearly as bad as I do driving it around the dunes and back country :)

I haven't personally tried using valet mode, but as I recall reading, it either didn't work or caused problems (don't remember which). All I really remember was telling myself, "don't try using that".

Unfortunately, the valet mode doesn’t reduce engine power for these, that’s only a function for the Hellcat’s. To my knowledge, it’s only the launch mode function, and it will send email notifications if it leaves the boundary you set. But that doesn’t do anything if they disable the GPS

I've used it every time I've had the truck serviced and haven't had any issues with it. I could see it being a real issue if you forgot your pin though. LOL

Maybe go against the valet company for Diminished value
I'd sue them, and make them buy it.
No fucking way it goes to a body shop, and back to me.

I've done it before successfully, and it's a huge drawn out pain in the ass, But I will continue to do it, if someone else wrecks my vehicles.

I'm sure we all remember the scene in the Ferris Buller movie. 😂 I avoid valet parking.

Actually it does limit power quite a bit. You can floor it in valet mode and it takes quite a while to even get to 40mph. I've heard the truck has 200hp in valet mode which seems about right. It's very slow to shift gears as well.

Valet mode is easy to access on the '21 model trucks through the performance pages. On the '22 model trucks you access it through the profile icon up by the alexa button. I actually learned how to access that from a user on here. From what I remember the manual says you have to access it through the app on your phone. I don't even use that app on my phone any more so that's useless to me. That might be a different version of the valet mode which sets a boundary via the GPS. I've never used that myself but the valet mode on the profile page worked great for me.

Here's one of the threads I was remembering. Maybe the issues have been solved now.

They don’t valet at chick-filet
There was a guy wearing a head bandana and wife beater tee shirt, standing outside my local Taco Bell. He said he would be more than happy to valet park my TRX. Are you saying he was lying to me? (shocked). :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Gents,
Don't make the same mistake as me and put your baby in some idiot's hands. This happened on Christmas eve while doing some last minute shopping with the wife. To make matters worse they put me in a Nissan Titan until I get the beast back. On a good note, the PPF completely protected the paint when this idiot decided to take down a wall. Everything is getting replaced including the stealth ppf.

Any suggestions on what to look out for during repairs would be appreciated!

A good body shop will have no issue fixing this for you and actually white is pretty straightforward on color match, because there is no metallic. I would sue to diminished value due to it showing on Car Fax.
For the cab, they will need to disassemble the interior and get to that corner and beat it out. They should be able to get it very close by massaging the dent. Skim coat of filler, sand / feather / paint and its good as new.
For the bed, the entire bed side will need to be removed (cut off) and replaced. A good shop will reuse all the factory spot weld points and when its done, it should be as good as or better than factory and you should not be able to easily spot the repair.
Flare and step, full replacement.

Keep us in the loop on your repair.

Whenever I go somewhere and theres a Valet, I give the attendant $20 up front, with the promise of more when I come out, so I can park it myself. They always move cones and let me park right up front and keep my key. Its worth the peace of mind!

Why is valet a thing?
It's such BS. This is why I avoid places like Miami in general because its all valet parking at hotels. Plus i'm always going in and out so it gets annoying

I guess I’m a little too redneck to ever run into valet only places or even regular valet.
