Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat RAM TRX Photo Thread

Thought I’d share some new exterior mods
PPF on entire truck stealth on roof and lower
Gloss everywhere else (PPF a must imo with black paint)
Smoked mirror signals
1in level
37x13.5 18 BFG ko2
Fuel rush +1 18x9
Only gained 3lbs per corner from OEM setup
Weather tech mud flaps
Backflip bed cover
TRX and hellcat badging instead of Ram
Re decal OEM decal hood and bedsides
BAD MPGS Texas plate

So far happy with my setup
That is perfect

Here is mine just minutes before I pinstriped it bumper to bumper on both sides.

My paint guy said he can fix it.

Yes.

You could probably go stock suspension but would need to pinch weld the metal on inside wheel wells with some plastic trimming if turning to full lock

Stock offset would probably work.

I did not want to change the ride much from stock

It just an Icon front top strut spacer not preload collar

About as mild as possible to clear without rubbing.

I also park in my garage so I wanted the best setup to look aggressive and still fit in the garage.
It looks amazing, and accomplishes the aggressive stance without being obnoxious. Exactly what I want as well.
Thanks for the info!

This is a good side view as tires will still stuff in fenders

Removed the Ram badges, threw on some T-rex badges, installed the Bakflip cover, and ceramic coated sexy Becki today.

I paid $7k for entire PPF on mine. In California. Well worth it IMO
Completely agree with a black vehicle.
Black demands this attention to detail… unless scratches and swirls don’t bother you.

Never look at a black vehicle after washed in direct sunlight unless it’s paint corrected then PPF’d or just came off showroom floor. It will be depressing how flawed the paint looks.

I would agree if you have zero idea how to detail a car. I have a black TRX that we paint corrected and ceramic coated ourselves. I debated PPF but couldn't justify the cost. Now I will admit Ive been detailing for 20+ year of my life but I did a rinseless wash using Ammo Frothe and introduced ZERO scratches, swirls or marring of any sorts and thats on a rinseless. If you pay attention, use two buckets with grit guards you'll be fine. Take it one step further, use a high GSM microfiber, flooding every half panel and replacing with new one, you'll be golden. Or take it through an automatic wash and yea, you'll have a swirled scratched black truck

Yes
You obviously know how to take care of your paint. I agree that PPF is expensive but worth to me bc of how little effort I have to put in to make my truck look nice especially with the self healing properties.

I took mine to my painter yesterday after the new bumper to bumper pinstripes. He said they aren't any worse than the swirls from an Auto carwash, they are just straight vs circular. That really made me think how bad auto washes really are.

I have to wonder if the paint obsession is new, or just something we see more of now with the internet?

By no means do I like scratches on my cars (I park as far away as possible), but it just feels like people are far more critical of imperfections these days (maybe it’s the social media car models, lol!)

I have never really been critical about it even though I am somewhat of a perfectionist. My take on cars and trucks is that they should be used in the manner they were made for. Almost all my vehicles have been used at tracks or off-road. They are always kept clean, parked away from other cars and look good from 3+ feet away which is better than 90% of the cars on the road. To be honest, when the first branch hit my truck last weekend, I got out and looked at it and had a sick feeling in my stomach, I felt the same way up until about the 10th branch and then I said that I had made it the first 4 miles off=road, I might as well go ride out the next 30 miles. After we were done my wife asked if I was going to look at it and I said nope, it is what it is at this point and if it has to be repainted, it has to be repainted. After a late lunch, we went back out and hit another 12 miles of trail and I just enjoyed the truck. As soon as I got home, I detailed the truck, scratches and all and I was proud to be the owner of such an awesome truck. Heck, I am looking out of my office window right now and the truck looks awesome.

The thing that bothered me the most was that on the way home the next day, a dump truck went off the shoulder of a small country road and threw rocks all at me and broke my windshield. I guess the difference was that I caused the the scratches but he caused the broken windshield.

I think the obsession you see is secondary to being on a forum with car enthusiasts vs just seeing the thoughts of the general public.

Adding some red accents to color match interior.

Looks great! What did you end up using--and did you coat the plastic trim?

I've done all the painted surfaces so far, but I'm hesitant to touch the trim just yet based on bad reviews of dudes that likely didn't level it properly.

I had it done by a detailer. The coating is called Devil's Blood by a company called Fireball USA.

There's honestly many brands and every shop uses something different. This one is a 3 year coating....we'll see how it holds up.

Yes I got the plastic trim coated as well.
