Dealer offering 3% below Invoice - with a catch, soliciting opinions

Don’t walk…..RUN away from that STEALership. I went with granger and had zero issues and am thinking about another order already. The reviews for Koons, Dan Cummins, and Grangers should resonate with everyone by now. My friends who are Salesmen/Sales Managers whom I buy multiple cars from heard about my TRX deal from Granger and they say it’s those are tne best deals anywhere. $5k down? They are smokin crack. They can’t can’t guarantee shit except they will bend you over without a second thought as long as they get your $$. That’s the bottom line. Even a couple of the dealerships I shop at and get great deals have become Scumbag Dealerships and we will no longer do business with them. They don’t care because there’s a sucker born every minute and they feed on them.

That’s the bottom line.

Yea, I definitely got the uncomfortable vibe when the $5k, squishy "price protection" and I can't give you details on the financing you are forced to use information came out. Thank you all for confirming! I'm in touch with Dan Cummings folks at the moment.

Another local option is $3000 under MSRP at Hemet.

What Malabuvin said....

OP, I'm pretty sure I know what Dealership you are talking about, I would run away from that shithole.
Any place that always pushes THEIR financing, is almost guaranteed to be fucking you.
The 5k Deposit is a huge non starter too.

So pretty sure I figured out what this "stealership" was doing. I'll post about that in a bit, but quick question, if I pay Tax/Title/Registration fee through an out of state dealership, I shouldn't have to pay that again in CA for the initial purchase/registration correct? I would just show them proof of purchase/receipt documentation?

When I ordered from Ohio and went to register in CA, I showed the taxes paid and they reduced that from the total amount due.

Every out of state dealer I've worked with doesn't collect tax/title/license fees. I bring my sales paperwork to my home state's county treasurer office with the MSO and pay everything there.

I bought one from Granger at 9000 under and another from Dan Cummins for 4% below invoice. They were price protected and no stipulations from either dealer. No financing stips or add ons. I think Dan Cummins had a $600 or so doc fee but that’s it. $1000 deposits for both.

A 5k non refundable deposit and no price protection is nuts.

Yeah, that would be a no go deal for me.
Too many loose ends that cannot be tied up until you are taking delivery. When it comes to car dealerships, fear the unknown and the unwritten!!!!!!!
Its not a Shottenkirk dealership, is it??????

I have experienced dealers doing it both ways. When I bought my TRX in Illinois they collected the Florida sales tax but no Florida registration fees. I paid those when I went to the tag office in Florida. When I bought my Raptor in Illinois they did not collect any sales tax or State fees. I paid all of that when I registered the vehicle in Florida. It is my understanding that some states have reciprocal agreements to collect the other states sales tax and some do not.

Putting 5k down really puts you in a bad spot if anything goes South and you need to walk away.

You should be able to pay that high interest loan down with no prepayment penalty. I have done the same many times to get better deals.

Edit to add I got 4% below invoice from DC with no strings. It is price protected and $500 down.
Same here, not to mention my price was locked from the moment the VIN was assigned (not starting the day it's built/invoiced).

I also went with Miles/Dan Cummins, excellent experience.
