Dealer got the TRX. Question.

If you search i posted about asking Ram to make a destroyer gray. I didn’t like the one on YouTube though as much as I thought I would.
Yea someone in that thread said they were gonna get it done in Feb, gonna check in with him on that thread. I agree, not a fan of the 2-tone in the youtube vid, but i think full color like your pic would be sick.

It's why I no longer buy black vehicles. Granite is the perfect dirt/defect camouflage.
Agree 100%

Even though black makes any car/truck look it’s best when it’s detailed. There’s also the issue of baking hotter than an oven when parked in the sun factor with black on black.

I've been seeing people in the TRX forums and the Hellcat forums mention their vehicles showing up with this or that messed up. Not major issues, just stuff like OP showed, minor scratches and such. Somewhere along the line buyers became willing to accept this stuff. I don't care if the vehicle is scratched (or whatever) during shipping or at the dealership during PDI. I do not care if it's damaged by someone at the dealership, the shipping folks or Santa Claus. I'm paying for a product to be delivered to me undamaged. I think any damage such as scratches/dings and such should be addressed by the dealership. If they need to bring it up with the shipping people or the factory, makes no difference. It's their job to get the vehicles to the dealership and ultimately to us in a condition we as the buyer are happy about.

I get what you're saying but I also know that the person they give these vehicles to is the newest person that just got a ten-minute class on how to fix that stuff. Watch the assembly plant video and you'll see they have a buffer towards the end they "fix" imperfections. I can tell you exactly where they use them the white chalk on the trim and/or the obvious circle in the paint. Trust me, complain on the survey or directly to RamCares but either fix it yourself or pay a professional.

Just because of all the black truck haters :-) It's a labor of love but darn worth it.

It’s far from hate my friend, I think black is gorgeous. But it’s a career choice, not a color if you want it to look as good as your truck in that pic.
I know, I just threw it out there. :-) I've owned a black truck for decades and every time I switch to another color I switch back. That said, first thing I do is detail it and get the ceramic coating on it. Normally I just don't buy into these snake oil things but two coats and it's so easy to maintain compared to the old days. Ceramic coatings are the best thing to happen to vehicle care (less PPF).

Always look at the paint inside the dealership under the shop lights. Thats the only way to see all the imperfections. Most dealers will not do this and put the car outside under the sun which will not show everything

Which is the reason why I started seeing imperfections on my Laramie every time I went to gas stations at night. newer gas stations with lots of LED lights.

Everything I’ve ever owned has been black, it’s by far the best looking and I don’t really give a crap what anybody says about it, showing dirt, if that bugs them wash it

BTM. (Black trucks matter)

Does paint correction get rid of swirls in clear coat?

Yes it does. Just keep in mind though, paint corrections will thin out your clear coat. There’s only so much clearcoat that’s on the truck from the factory.

I've had my truck for about 2.5 months now (love it). When I picked it up at Mark Dodge, I noted several issues in the paint, some Mark Dodge had seen and notified me of ahead of time and some they didn't see. The agreement with Mark Dodge was I would take the truck to my local dealership to have them address the issues and then reimburse me for it (or cover the cost up front). Yesterday I took the truck by my local dealerships body shop. 2 of the paint issues are where the body color (red) overruns into the black lower paint. This would require removing both passenger doors (repainting the entire front passenger door) and also the bed to get to where the paint wraps around the back side of the cab. To say I am unimpressed with Ram's factory paint is an understatement. I decided NOT to have them do that and just live with the imperfections since I do not want the body shop doing that amount of disassembly on my brand-new truck. I am having them repaint my entire tail gate to fix the huge paint globs at the bottom corners of the gate.
Ive had 3 new vehicles now including this truck, and the paint quality on the Ram is by far the worst.

So the dealer got the TRX this morning. I guess they cleaned it and finished PDI all today. So I asked him to send me pictures. I’m out of town I won’t be able to see it till tomorrow at least.

I’m seeing things like this from the pictures they sent me. Do you guys think it’s from the factory or the way they buffed stuff out?

I sent him an email back to take care of this before pick up. Is that the right approach?
To me it looks like sun spots like on the box just behind those as it’s on the character line as it’s going up the c post.

Nothing looks better than black but they are a som bi**h to keep clean and streak free
No drive threw car wash…….don’t even think about it
