So the dealer got the TRX this morning. I guess they cleaned it and finished PDI all today. So I asked him to send me pictures. I’m out of town I won’t be able to see it till tomorrow at least.

I’m seeing things like this from the pictures they sent me. Do you guys think it’s from the factory or the way they buffed stuff out?

I sent him an email back to take care of this before pick up. Is that the right approach?

I got black too and once I get mine I'll be doing a paint correction and PPF. You will notice the defects more especially on a black truck.

I gave explicit directions to my Dealer... To not even have the lot-monkeys wash it when it arrived....
Thankfully..... they complied.

It's black. They didn't do anything wrong. Porsches come with worse paint from the factory.

Have her paint corrected and then ceramic coated after you get her home and call it a day.

I've been seeing people in the TRX forums and the Hellcat forums mention their vehicles showing up with this or that messed up. Not major issues, just stuff like OP showed, minor scratches and such. Somewhere along the line buyers became willing to accept this stuff. I don't care if the vehicle is scratched (or whatever) during shipping or at the dealership during PDI. I do not care if it's damaged by someone at the dealership, the shipping folks or Santa Claus. I'm paying for a product to be delivered to me undamaged. I think any damage such as scratches/dings and such should be addressed by the dealership. If they need to bring it up with the shipping people or the factory, makes no difference. It's their job to get the vehicles to the dealership and ultimately to us in a condition we as the buyer are happy about.

Some dealers are worse than others. Will see what they’ll do for me.

I saw another one at another dealer in the showroom with so many imperfections that it was just funny at that point.

It’s a black truck being looked at in direct sunlight, which means that the paint would only be perfect after getting a proper paint correction by a skilled detailer.

I don’t know if they would pay for a full paint correction based on what you saw alone, I suppose it won’t hurt to try, but keep in mind, once you start driving it, and do your first wash, you’ll start seeing swirl marks when in direct sunlight all over the place. Unless you’re a detailer yourself that does the two bucket wash method, blow dry, etc. every time.

This is the response I got from the GM at the dealer.

“Let’s wait for you to look it over. I want to make sure it’s right for you.”

I love it when they think your picky and immediately jump to if you don’t want it it’s perfectly fine…. Because that’s really what he is thinking.

I agree with you when it comes to major damage or dings/dents. Blemishes or minor swirl marks in the paint like this aren’t really preventable unless you treat every car/truck off the line like some Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance show car. I don’t think anyone would be very happy with the price of the car if treated as such.

It's why I no longer buy black vehicles. Granite is the perfect dirt/defect camouflage.

100000%

To the OP, yea some dealers make it right and usually have their detailer polish it, but I’d 100% get the black paint corrected and ceramic’ed.

I have a black challenger and when I got it I was surprised how less than stellar the black paint was, after correction and ceramic it’s a mirror. That’s my last black car. But shit it looks good, tough.

So I went to look at it and I couldn’t really see that imperfection in the picture I posted. It’s very hard to see. Considering what I’ve seen cosmetic looks good. But I had another issue which I’ll make a new post for now.

@Babylon you know anything about that TRX in your profile pic? IMO, that's the perfect one. Wonder if it's paint or wrap. I assume not a forum member. Love that color.

I’m pretty sure it’s photo shop. I’ve seen a YouTuber who wrapped his with destroyer gray.

If you search i posted about asking Ram to make a destroyer gray. I didn’t like the one on YouTube though as much as I thought I would.

If I were you I wouldn't have the dealer polish it. Just take it to detailer and have them do one step paint correction to get rid of the hazing
