So far SOL to like 10 dealers I’ve reached out to. $10k-$25k mark up. This happened last time and after giving up for 5-6 months I tried again in January of 2021 and got a MSRP deal within 60 miles from where I live. I’m in Northern California.

Never understood why anyone would pay a dealer with mark ups when they could just wait and get the truck at MSRP or even a discount.

Some have gotten lucky so far, but my guess is most dealers are going to ADM the hell out of it.

When I bought my 2023 from Granger, I was wondering the same thing. I decided to take the 141 North. I kept driving until I reached 100 miles on the odometer (it already had about 35 miles on it).

I go by what gear manufacturers recommend for break-in, and getting those repeated heat cycles done in the first 100 miles or so seems important. You only get one chance to work harden the surfaces correctly.

So why isn't this mentioned in the manual? I think people would freak out if asked to spend the time doing it right. Besides, Ram is really only interested in making things last a little past the warranty.

I absolutely hate noisy diffs, so that's my main reason for doing the break-in as correctly as possible.
After coming off the trailer, magnetic level plugs go in after checking the fluid levels (which are usually a bit low), then I can begin driving. At around 500-1,000 miles, the break-in crap comes out and new and better fluid goes into the diffs.

Overkill? Maybe, but I have saved a couple of Ram diffs from a premature death by checking things early.

Well, crap. Just read up on the nannies for '27.

Looks like the Drowsy Driver Detection is one of them, and if it has to be turned off (with the touch screen) with each start of the engine, I'm out.

No Rumble Bee for me then. Either I'll just keep the TRX, or start looking for a '69 El Camino with a healthy engine. My driveway just isn't long enough to mess with the touch screen - if the setting can even be changed while moving.

That’s a point of contention for me as well. As long as the truck doesn’t shut down cuz it thinks I’m unfit to drive for whatever reason (I don’t drink or partake in any other substances), I guess I’ll have to accept the AI thing as the way moving forward for everyone.

The fact that the ‘27 won’t have a gas particulate filter is enough for me to deal with whatever else.

Hands free driving uses the same technology as drowsy driver detection to make sure you’re watching the road. It’s also the same system that can supposedly detect impairment. All they have to do is apply a software update that includes it if the hardware is there.

I'd need a larger dash to display all the coffee cups that would show up after not having stopped for 12+ hours.

Obviously not a thing with the TRX, but with the Ram 3500.

I believe the bigger concern isn’t necessarily big brother, but in a high stress environment you can’t get the vehicle to start because it thinks your impaired.
Someone made a parody in which there was a tornado coming and there car wouldn’t start due to believing they were impaired.
It’s comedy now, but if the new systems can actually shutdown/not start at all it could in fact become reality.

Yeah that’s what I meant earlier in the thread by unfit to drive for whatever reason. Is AI gonna mistake high stress for impairment? Doesn’t seem out of the question, especially in the nascent stages of its development.

It could require having an older vehicle handy.

Let's say the garage is on fire. If so I would definitely be stressed, but still able to pull the artificially disabled new vehicles out of the garage. It would just take longer, which isn't ideal.

Of course, there are numerous other situations where a driver could get upset and it would be a bad thing if the electronics decide to shut the vehicle down. Railroad crossings are just one example.
Or in this day and age, somebody is shooting at you.

Perhaps there will be some enterprising entrepreneurs out there who will find a work around on this one. I have also read that the system itself is not “ready for prime time”, so perhaps a reprieve while bugs are worked out. We can hope.

Buddy, the drowsy detection thing is very unassuming. All my BMWs have had it and it hasnt once dont anything weird. I think i got a notification after driving for 4 hours straight to take a break. That's it lol

For someone that somewhat routinely drive for closer to 24 hours straight, that doesn't sound very reassuring.

Of course, the tiny tank and maybe a 16 mpg average doesn't allow driving very far no matter what.
