Has anyone tried these? They do look very similar to stock.Looking into alternative sidesteps from the factory options. Will side steps that fit the regular 1500 / 1500 rebel be compatible? has anyone found this answer or successfully installed an aftermarket option?
Where did you get them installed? My dealership says it can't be done.
Well I didn’t, as I don’t have my truck yet. However a few members have had them installed already and flashed to the u connect screen on their Trx. So I would say your dealer is mis informed.Where did you get them installed? My dealership says it can't be done.
Here I found another thread discussing this.... CheersWhere did you get them installed? My dealership says it can't be done.
Man that’s terrible. I believe everyone who has successfully installed them have bought the Mopar Power Steps.... I hope they let you return them. Their excuse doesn’t pass the smell test.I bought a set of OEM running boards from BAMwholesale. They only came with 2 brackets on each side. My mechanic said they need 3. The directions say they need 3. When I contacted BAMwholesale, they said mopar went down to 2 brackets per side and the dealership could contact them and verify. Another forum member confirmed it for me, the factory running boards are leaving the factory with 3 brackets on each side. I have shot a couple emails to BAMwholesale and a couple phone calls. If they won't cooperate and make this right, I would suggest that no one else order anything from them. I'm gonna give them a day to contact me and make it right, then I'll try my dealership. I was told the only way to get another bracket is to order a full set of running boards for another $1000. If anyone has a set that they are taking off and would like to sell me a couple brackets, That would be awesome.
They responded and are sticking to their story. They say mopar says that they only send 2 brackets and that it doesn’t affect the performance. I have to disagree. I think they are weak in the middle. I make sure for now that I step on the front bracket when I get in. He said I can’t compare mine to a vehicle that got them installed in the factory. Same vehicle built 30 days apart. I like the power steps, but to me it’s just one more thing to go wrong. If I find as I get older, I can’t step up in it, I might switch, as they extend lower.Man that’s terrible. So you have this on your screen to deploy running boards (when stopped) from inside your cab?Picked up my truck this afternoon. Mopar power running boards. They had to flash the computer but the running boards show up on UConnect. I can deploy and retract them from the control menu.
I have a 2019 Ram Laramie Crew Cab/Short bed. I have the MOPAR power running boards and I have had this truck for 2 yrs and 1 month. I weigh 195 lbs and have people who weigh over 300 lbs in my truck who have used my power running boards. They only have 2 brackets on each side and have held up great. I am confirming 100% you do not need 3 brackets and that 2 are more than sufficient. This picture is from my truck 2 minutes ago.I bought a set of OEM running boards from BAMwholesale. 3 brackets per side.
Thanks for posting. I have a question, do you have the ability to manually override the steps if you don’t want them to deploy at all? ThanksI have a 2019 Ram Laramie Crew Cab/Short bed. My MOPAR steps only have 2 brackets and they work great with zero issues. Those aren't the deployable steps though.
I owned a 19 1500 with OEM deployable steps, 2 brackets. My 2020 2500 Megacab with them factory installed - same, 2 brackets.
Perfectly fine with 2. 3 may become an issue with binding, a little more fun to keep everything aligned.
I don't think so. I have never tried to NOT deploy my steps. Why would you not want to deploy them? Thanks for posting. I have a question, do you have the ability to manually override the steps if you don’t want them to deploy at all? Thanks
Hard Off roading , they could get caked up with mud and such... would want to clean them off before deploying.I don't think so. I have never tried to NOT deploy my steps. Why would you not want to deploy them?
Good news...I just checked and you are able to do so. These are the steps to take:Hard Off roading , they could get caked up with mud and such... would want to clean them off before deploying.
edit: I am hoping to maybe run the power source thru a aux switch. Simple on/off or something similar. Thanks
Awesome thanks for checking. Makes the decision a lot easier. CheersGood news...I just checked and you are able to do so. These are the steps to take:
1. Click on "App" button
2. "Settings"
3. "Safety & Driving Assistance"
4. Power Side Steps
5. Change from "Auto" to "Store"
What this will do is keep the power running boards stored whether the door is open or closed
He was responding to my post about the stock running boards that are not the automatic deployable ones. I didn't get those. I was concerned that the aluminum would sag after a while in the middle without the middle bracket. Especially if a heavy person were to step in the middle. Those aren't the deployable steps though.
