Clunk service bulletin

It will be interesting to see if the RHO has the same infamous Driveline Clunk that so many TRX owners have reported. I have not personally experienced it YET... Having said that, if it has the same exact driveline but for the transmission not being of the same torque rating as the TRX, will there be the clunk development? Seems inevitable, no? If not, is it a different driveshaft, is there been improvements to it, is it related to the TRX's transmission Torque Values?

"This question may have to be added to the "Seven Wonders of the World"....

This isn't the circumstance we'd like for any of our customers. If anyone is experiencing concerns with their respective vehicle, please send us a private message with details of your experience. Our team would like to see where we can assist and potentially provide a solution for the given concerns. Thank you everyone.

Chris,
Ram Cares
Hello RamCares, I've had the TSB done and had to bring the truck back a second time for them to grease drive shaft. The last couple days the clunk is back for a third time.

Its @RamCares and unfortunately if ram actually cared they would fix the clunk that EVERYONE has

Agreed, I reached out to my service advisor and other than telling me to make another appointment to bring the truck in offered no other insight to why this keeps on coming back. This will be the 3rd time it will be looked at with no solution other than throwing more grease at it. @RamCares need to step up and come up with a real fix, they could at looking at a class action lawsuit like the overheating Z06's and GT350's that were going into limp mode.

Doubtful. This issue isn’t relegated to just the TRX. Check out the regular ram truck forum and you will see this has been around for years without any fix.

So if this issue as been around for years is it safe to assume there will be no physical damage to the truck?

You're right, this will never be part of a class action law suit unless driveshafts start breaking.

This is not a widespread problem with the regular 5th Gen Rams. They are a few clunk threads but those are usually related to some sort of front suspension issue.

Yup, my brother has a 2016 rebel and has the same clunk since the truck was new.

I beg to differ.

Crossing my fingers, got my TRX back with a new driveshaft, version AF. Clunk is gone, I doubt for good but I just hope the fix lasts for a long time.

Not going to Bother , Just went out and bought the After mkt shaft and done
Do tell please - I’m sick of pulling my driveshaft down every oil change to grease it. I know better than to bother with an “updated” part#. It’s still a slip joint with no zero fittings. I’m curious where you got yours, if it has zero fittings and how it’s holding up for you.

Definitely didn't fix my clunk, it came back after 1500 miles. I had been living with it but just dropped off my truck and am getting a new driveshaft. I've heard the new driveshaft probably wont fix it either but I'm hoping it will at least last for long time before returning.
Mine came back1 year after the “fix” they then replaced the driveshaft, so far (2 months) so good….

Does anyone have an idea of the cost of the kit? Though my '22 is still under warranty I'd rather just do the repair myself than bother with taking the truck to the dealer...

thanks

I wouldn't bother with the Mopar kit. It's overpriced. Just buy some grease and Oetiker clamps. @OnTheReel posted what you need to buy.

I don't see his post in this thread or another thread I found on the subject...

??

Edit, I found one of his posts where he suggests Ford PTFE Lubricant Xg-8.

Although the bulletin states to completely remove the driveshaft why can't it only be unbolted at the front, supported, remove the larger boot clamp at the rear, slide the yoke out, lube, install a new clamp and attach with the original bolts and boot? The bolts aren't TTY, correct? No magic...??

thanks
