Without looking at the recommended schedule, what is the mileage recommended? My truck never left pavement and has 22k miles. Should I care for that or wait till at least 30k?

It's really easy to inspect. Just pull the lower glove box and the filter cover to the right. You can tap out or lightly blow out any loose dust to give you a little more time. Just like filters in your house, the system will run more efficiently if it's not packed up with dust and pollen.

I bought the K&N. I can’t get it to fit inside. Called their support. Told me to try to wedge the end with the curve into the left side. I feel like I am damaging the filter trying to make it bend to get it inside. Can anyone who has got the K&N tell me how the heck they got this thing to fit? It is the correct part VF2065.

Sounds like it must have been a funny conversation. I can imagine you going "whaaaa? wedge it in? you mean it doesn't just fit???"

Watching...
I was just loooking at these today since K&N is running a sale. Mainly because I heard that it blocks less airflow thus boosting the fan speed for the Air Conditioner.

I don't recall struggling to install. Probably time for a cleaning

I run the bosch in both my rams. Work great so far.

Do not try the MicroGuard HEPA filter from O'Reillys. The regular MicroGuard works great, the HEPA one knocks down the fan power to about 1/2 or less strength. Way too restrictive.

We all learned the O’Reilly’s filter lesson a long time ago.

Haha almost forgot about that one

Holy crap. I could barely get through the OP's first post, let alone 17 pages. What's the Readers Digest version?
Dealer denied warranty on a hydrolocked engine (the guy had it towed from a lake, presumably went into the water). They said he had replaced the air filter with a new O'Reilly's filter right before it was towed (to hide the fact that it ingested water).
Who knows what the real story is, but it was a very lively thread - and quite entertaining at times.

RD Version: dumb dumb drive truck into very deep water. Hellcat motor hydrolocked. Dumb dumb take out wet oem engine air filters and replace with filters from o’reilly’s. Then dumb dumb swears up and down truck has never seen water. Dealer finds fresh water in cylinders. Dumb dumb say it mysteriously appeared, mad dealer won’t honor warranty. I’m leaving out a lot of details, but that basically sums it up.

I gave up and inserted the K&N the only way it would fit, which does not seem to fit the way the OEM filter did. The plastic door barely snapped back on. Either K&N was incorrect in their guidance on which way to position the filter, or it is not shaped perfectly to fit the box. Oh well.

You might have received a defective one.

My vf2065 slid right in. There was a little friction from the passenger side so I had insert the driver side tip in first, but only a bit. With a little pressure it just goes right in. I jiggled it back and forth to make sure it was well seated. That was the first time I did it. I expect the door will loosen up over time and I will have no problem just poppin one out and in.

Are we still talking about filters. 😵‍💫
