Build time

All good information. Thank you. I was hoping I might know when it's about a month out so I can list my current truck. I don't mind renting a car for a couple weeks or having both trucks for a minute. I'm just not a fan of trading cars in, and I don't want to end up on either side of it for too long.
Ya not a good idea at all‼️ I would wait till I know my truck is at least in transit to the dealership which isn't long after your window sticker is posted here but that's still a flip of the coin‼️

Ordered on 1/4; loaded L2 with all options except Rambar and Tire Carrier. Dealer cannot get update and RamCare gives the typical “we will get back to you” scenario.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're truck shows up any day now‼️ Have you look to see if your vin# Got a bs or ws yet usually after ws the truck is not far from delivery ‼️ That info you can get here in the forum ‼️

can the truck really be 7 days in Paint status?
I doubt that‼️ For some reason status is just not updated ‼️ I would just follow the forum for a Window sticker and don't pay to much of the status in between ‼️ once WS is in your dealer has been invoiced so your truck is usually on the way‼️

The shipping process is your next potential round of delays. I would’ve had my truck in 7 weeks, but it sat at SHAP for a week prior to shipping. One guy had his truck stuck on a broke down train for 3 weeks. It’s all a complete crap shoot. For all of the guys waiting on production or shipping, you just need to pack your patience. The wait just disappears once it actually shows up. Hell I had mine arrive and only had it for 3 days before the auxiliary radiator failed and it sat for almost another 10 days in my garage waiting on parts. 😂 The truck is awesome but don’t hold your breath on production and shipping. The plant has been battling with COVID and parts delays. Don’t try to figure out a system of how / why / which order they get built. The fact these things are even getting built in anything close to a timely manner is actually surprising. I feel bad for the folks that waited since last August. If you ordered in the last month or so just expect 8-12 weeks barring some unforeseen issues. Good luck ...the waiting is by far the hardest part.

Thanks @Smoke king let’s hope that is the case.

Maybe this has been asked and answered, but I am not seeing it. For those of you that have had your TRX built, what kind of wait times were you seeing? I am about to put in an order and the dealer can't tell me how long I should expect to wait until my truck arrives. Thanks.

You might want to test the waters on a trade in for two reasons:
1-- used truck prices are crazy right now. Dealer gave me $5000 less than what paid for my 2018 Ram 2500 Mega Cab Cummins than I paid for it three years ago and 76,000 miles--out the door price with no money down.
2-- on a trade (in Ohio) you only pay sales tax on the net truck price, regardless of what you owe on the traded vehicle. So I saved an additional 6.75% on the first $50,000 or another $3375.00 saved. On my $86,570 TRX I'm only paying sales tax on $36,570

Bottom line I have $13000.00 in trade equity plus $3375.00 less in sales tax

Yup, I think trading is the way to go right now if you have a decent newer truck to trade in. Dealers are desperate for inventory and it shows. I’m getting $1500 less than I paid for my ‘19 Chevy 2.5 years ago. I could probably have pressed for more but I’m hedging my bets that the market may level out by the time my TRX arrives. A bird in the hand.

Funny that they actually wanted to take my truck right now and put me in a loaner until my TRX arrives. But I need a truck and of course they didn’t have one to give. Never received that sort of proposition before. Especially since my TRX is likely months out at this point. Crazy.

Get a bid from Carvana. They pay top dollar.

Well I pulled the trigger yesterday. All black, Level 2, Bed utility group, and panoramic sunroof. Let the wait begin. Ordered from Michelle at Bob Ruwart Motors in Wheatland, Wyoming @ MSRP.

Ordered mine on April 19. Was told 10 - 12 weeks. Received my VIN number within a week.
I'm sure people have talked about this on this forum, but do you have any idea what the typical time frame is, once you get a vin assigned?

No ...it’s a complete crapshoot. It might be weeks it might be longer. VIN numbers are typically built out of sequence with basically no rhyme or reason. So if for example you have a 6800 VIN and see someone with a similar vin getting built it means nothing. Biggest thing to pay attention to is once you go D1. You’re basically two weeks out from getting built at D1. Some folks move to D1 fast (myself included)... other folks wait FOREVER. Contact your dealer every week and ask what your status code is or check FCA chat so one of the guys on here can help you decipher the stuff they tell you.

I ordered on 3/13 and received my truck yesterday, 5/6. I am one of the lucky ones. As @RobR651 said above, I think a lot of it is luck.

Will I be suffering on waited build time because I ordered from a small dealer? Ordered 3/27
