2027 TRX Won’t Shift Into Gear – Electrical Issue?

I’m currently picking up my 2027 TRX from a shop that performed a full ceramic coating and window tint. They’ve been moving the truck around the shop since last Thursday without any issues, but now that I’m here to pick it up, it won’t shift into gear.

The truck starts, but the gear selector lights flicker, the center infotainment screen stays completely black, and when it does appear to shift into gear, the rear lights start flickering as well.

I do have an IGLA immobilizer installed, but it’s been in service mode the entire time the truck has been at the shop.

The Ram dealer suggested it could be a drained or weak battery, but I’ve never experienced a vehicle starting normally and then refusing to shift into gear because of a battery issue.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any suggestions on what could be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, I’m thinking it could be one of three things:

  1. Like you mentioned, something may have gotten wet during the window tinting. However, they tinted the windows last Thursday or Friday, and the issue didn’t appear until this morning.
  2. The battery may have drained from the doors being left open during the ceramic coating process or the key fob being kept near the truck and activating it while it was in their shop all day/night.
  3. The IGLA may be in protection mode, and I might need to override it to get it functioning normally again (screen is black and the screen is part of my pin).

Your bcm or connectors got wet especially if your windshield was done. Hopefully it dries out, if not then the tinter hopefully has good insurance unless you signed an “at your own risk” paper like most do

My IGLA installer actually said the same thing, the BCM may have gotten wet during the tint installation.

If that turns out to be the issue, how would you recommend approaching it with the shop? I didn’t sign any paperwork or waivers beforehand. I only had the two front windows tinted, not the windshield.

I currently have the battery on a charger, as it was showing a low charge, so I’m really hoping that’s all it is. That’s what my dealer mentioned it might be if my key fob was left in the truck the whole time it was in their garage.

You know if a BCM replacement would typically be covered under the factory warranty?

Wouldn’t be the bcm wet, would be low or bad battery. Hopefully DASS didn’t install it…

Oh no we're sorry to hear of this. Please send our team a private message for an extra layer of support.

So you think it’s the battery not the BCM? That’s what I was leaning towards. Who is DASS

And which power button to reset screen?

Oh, they did… it’s 10 minutes from my house so that’s who I went with. Bad reputation?
Just removed 5 of his installs in the last 2 months. No comment. Probably ripped you off like he did them. Hopefully your IGLA isn’t an outdated one that we removed from production in 2017 (silver pro on the box and fobs had no buttons on the chip board)
