Brakes......

This the 2020 Rams 1500 brake kits. I dont know if there is a difference.

I have used powerstop in the past. Were they a good upgrade for my 99 F350 when I was low on money in college and needed brakes for a year....yes. For the Ram TRX.....hard no.

Cool. Keep us posted. I've done a lot of mods but never touched brakes (usually came with the cars - cross drilled rotors, etc). It is time.
Yep very interested in your seat of the pants on those basic brake mods.

I am in the process. I can't just go down to some performance shop and they have all this stuff in stock. Brakes are built to order-no cancellations, wheels are 60 days out or built to order. So it really hard to pull trigger without knowing it will all work together.

To do a bigger brake setup you have to go to a larger rim size. 19+. So a 20x9 or 22x10. But the offset is the key. Then the spare tire underneath the truck, by going to larger rim to accommodate the new brakes, will the 20x9 or 22x10 rim and tire fit in spare tire location underneath? Plus you have to buy 5 rims and 5 tires.

I have 4Play checking these wheels 22x10 -18 offset with Baer big brake fitment guide. Once they confirm what wheel size and offset will work, will call Baer and verify they have the kit that makes this a bolt on to TRX.

Does anyone know if the brakes and connections are exactly the same as a regular RAM 1500?

This is the brake kit I am going to try put on 6 piston if it works out. Its the only one I have found.

I like to go fast. looking to upgrade pads, lines and fluid while keeping the original 18/35” wheels.
Only other mod I want is to eliminate the governor. Might not drive much faster on these tires but prefer the choice to be mine. That’s a lie, I will definitely find out how fast this thing can go at least once.

I have 20s
Go on their site. They have a fitment guide. Also search it here. Theres been a fair amount of discussion on it

@nct It would be really cool if you did this. I like my stock wheels so can’t do it. Would be great to have someones first hand opinion before I swap wheels just for this purpose

Maybe start with these:

Used powerstop in the past on my 99 F350. Its a good budget friendly brake option but not an upgrade for anything performance on a modern truck. I've also never had their setup last me longer then a year before either at least one calipers seized up or rotors warped.

I am at stage 6 racing now, they are going to see if trackhawk 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears will fit TRX, as they have 2 track hawks owned by owners.

We will see.

I’d be shocked if it fits inside the stock wheel

As long as you don't swap brakes, you can use stock spare, just consider it a donut, just to limp to tire shop. Probably good idea to have 1 extra tire in case of not fixable hazzard, otherwise, you could be waiting days to get replacement tire.

This only works if they are very very close to the same OD. If not it will cause expensive problems
