FYI. I used a junkyard tailgate. Only cost about $150 and my original is sitting perfectly in my main garage.

Such a smart idea, tailgate is so easy to pop on and off… although would annoy my wife to see a tailgate in the garage

1st of all, the wife shouldn't have a letter to say about the garage - that's your domain. When was the last time you complained about the placement of her kitchen aid? Or even better, her hanging of a picture that says "kitchen" right above the F'in archway to the kitchen lolol?! I digress

But in reality, my wife knows that despite us having 3 garages, she'll never have a spot to park anything other than her bicycle (not even my wife's shoes are allowed in there). Even if we have 5 garages, I'll just have more space for each vehicle. 6 garages? I'll move the trailer back inside haha

I know… unfortunately, as per the other thread, my truck doesn’t fit in the garage and it’s monsoon season in the north east. It has rained every weekend for the last three months

I’ve been preaching the benefits of my tailgate box for a while now. I’m happy to see another member with a positive experience. Looks like you took it to the next level with the custom foam insert.

Yea, I screwed my first one up. lol bought a new tailgate to fix. I was being dumb trying to pry up on the internal braces because they were stuck and dented tailgate. Errrrrr. Oh well. Second time around was quick and easy. lol.

For anyone who is interested, I have a brand new set of swing cases still in the cardboard boxes that I've never installed. I went a different route.

So here is my set up, just about done.
Has 36” between boxes. Full swing out sliders. ($2100 with shipping from mobile strong) One full length over fender box (bought for my f150 years ago so I’m going off memory, $1,500 from mobile strong) and one in front of fender box. And one ($300 from amazon) in tailgate box. ($800, plus $200 for Ryno lining top) retrax powered top( $2,700) Adding it up I feel stupid now.
Hidden costs. Fucked up tailgate doing that install so had to buy a new one and have it painted. The Amazon box was damaged 3 times in shipping. 3rd time I just kept it with damage. Retrax came damaged. So all in all this took months.
But it stays 95% dry. I can keep tools and tool bags out of cab. Can show off and lock up guns. And still have plenty of bed space. The slider has a high profile of 4”. Wish it was 2” but the retrax and deck slider are my favorite and game changers

For those that will tell me they can’t fit plywood or sheet rock in bed, I’ll just strap them to top of bed cover. It holds way more weight than that.

I have a Ryno ram bar, it allowed retrax to fit without any issues.

Thanks. I've tried plenty of options that will hold guns, but none that fit how I drive the truck. Guns in that will get beat to hell the way I offroad to where I'm going to use them, with the tailgate getting some of the most movement. I'd like for the guns to be usable when I get to my destination. I realize I may be a unicorn here asking for a solution all of 5 people in the world may use, but the whole reason I've owned 2 Raptors and now my TRX is that I want to drive fast and hard offroad and on places where there aren't roads to get to where I want to hunt. I can't hardly find any accessories that hold up to the task, including every gun vault I've tried (none are dust proof and most locks rattle apart) and tonneau covers (which none have lasted a year without breaking).

I've got a bunch of pelican cases I use for this. It's annoying, but closest to a 'good' solution I've seen.

Hey @DanZman im bringing you into my question because you seem to know more about the pack outs than the avg bear.

I need to figure out storage in the bed of my trx. Right now I have a retrax retractable tonneau cover… which has its pros and cons. The cons are the big storage penalty.

Anyways, I have the @NH Overland compressor mount coming and that should mount on the passenger side of the bed wall nearest the tailgate. Essentially eliminating that area for storage.

I have the factory bed tie down rails and factory spray in liner btw.

I’d like to get a storage panel that is full length for the drivers side and if available half length for the passenger side (I’ll cut it if full length is only available)

My goal is to mount a pack out box or equivelant near the tailgate with compressor hose, air chuck, maybe my tire repair kit.

And then on the rest of the storage panels, two fire extinguishers, a small shovel, a small axe, medium sized first aid kit, etc etc etc. really after that, maybe a bubba rope or strap etc etc.

I guess my questions are:

After all the panels you guys have seen, which is the most quality built (decent gauge material, fit and finish etc) that works with the factory tie down rails.

And then the molle vs Foutz attachments.

Good lord, now I need to find adapters to even mount stuff on it. Which has readily available mounting pieces?

I thought I read in one of the posts that two of the companies use different sized molle dimensions.
