Anyone lower a trx

No hate from me. Those lowered trucks are BAD A$$!

I can't open FB, my account wasn't too popular and....

Can anyone post some pics please of the Canadien TRX build. Was hoping for some NASCAR style wheels/rubber.

Hey, if we are forced to allow Hydro Blue trucks on this forum, then we also have to allow people to talk about lowering their trucks. But I draw the line at a lowered Hydro Blue TRX.

Well im certainly new to the TRX forums but i did want to post my photos and maybe help the next person that wants to lower the TRX. Ive searched and searched for any REAL photos of lowered TRX's and truthfully none existed that i was ever able to find. lots of photoshop of wheels and tires in sizes and ratios that dont even exist. So i went out on a limb and decided to try and actually lower My TRX. I started off buying wheels and tires and i bought a spare set of OEM front and rear Springs incase any of this went bad. The wheels are WELD Ventura 6's in a 20x9.5 with a 6mm offset, And the tires are 305/50R20 General G-max, V-rated tires for speeds of 149+. The TRX is technically only lowered 2 inches in the front and 4 inches in the rear, but with the tires and wheels also installed it dropped the truck a total of 3.5 inches in the front and 5.5 inches in the rear. i hope the look of this will help anyone else who may want to consider lowering the TRX. Thanks

So what did you do, cut a coil off the second set of springs? What other changes did you have to make. Did the suspension system need to be recalibrated for new ride height? Did any thing get messed up with the front or rear "object?" sensors?

One coil from front coils is cut and 1-3/4 coil is cut from rear. Did an alignment and that was it. Everything still works perfectly. I'd even argue it rides IMO 100 times better now than with the all-terrain tires it came with. No check engine lights, parks sensors, adaptive cruise and blinds spots all work flawlessly. Nothing rubs, creeks or pops. I am in talks with having a custom set of progressive springs made for the front and rear that will lower the truck to the height I have now. I didn't do anything to recalibrate the suspension. I left that alone and so far, I haven't had any problems. I do wish I had done this years ago, and again I know this isn't for everyone.

Do the springs have enough preload on them at full droop to keep them in place?

I think it looks pretty decent. I sometime wish my truck was about an inch lower.

To be honest I have no concerns about the front, they aren't going anywhere. The rear springs i did have to get them to wrap around the bottom post on the axle where they sit. If I get airborne in the TRX they will most probably shift as there isn't enough preload on them to keep them solid in place. Thats where the custom springs are going to come into play. I have hit every pothole and set of railroads tracks I can find, and I have yet to bottom out/ hit the bump stops, and nothing has shifted yet.

Limiting straps for now, maybe?
Possibly, that would be the cheapest/easiest solution. I was super surprised at how much travel the rear actually has before the wheels come off the ground in the first place. Straps would only need to limit the travel a couple inches.

Reactions: Two
We are working with two guys that are drag racing their trucks. They are currently on cut sorings
.
I want to say they are 20 inches from bearing to top hat at ride height and 22 inches from bearing to bearing in the rear at ride height.

We will be doing a 650# spring in the front and are working with swift spring to do a drop spring in the rear

The swiftly springs aren’t going to be available for a bit, so it’s cut rear springs for the time being?

I should have the finished shocks to show this week?

Carbon shock technologies makes shocks to lower the TRX

Do you have any pics of your truck lowered with the factory wheels on it?
Still good or Any issues arise with cut springs or did you switch to custom springs now?
