Aftermarket anti theft security systems

I keep my key fobs in a faraday

Yep! The TRX wont open or start with the FOB in the Faraday box. Even found one that is matchy matchy with my interior but there are tons of different farady box & bag options.

You can turn nearly anything into a faraday cage or make your own. All you need is a cage of a conductive magnetic metal around the area to be protected.

I tried with a tin, then a small steel box. Also figured my EZ Pass bag used to shield the pass from registering would work but no go, the TRX picked up the fob.

I’m sure you are right just didnt have what was needed. Bought a few faraday pouches ($8.00) for the wife & kids too.

What about something like this. A Bluetooth relay to interrupt starter. Hide under the hood or somewhere (not under the dash). Trigger it with your phone.

Hi guys... yes it's my video and post...
I will help anyway I can...
I had my 2018 Trackhawk stolen and wanted to add a starter Interupt or kill switch and thought I would hide it in plain site so to speak by using the Aux switches..

The key fob is still needed.. But the thieves nowadays duplicate the key fob signal and drive away in a minute.. no broken glass no broken ignition ect...

So disabling the starter with a '"code" was my thought to stop or at least slow them down....

Watch the vid and read my post and it will be clearer...
And if you want I'll post the little schematic so you can see how it is tied in...

Can a thief still get it...?
Yes... but they would have to pop the hood and trace wiring to relays ect... All time consuming and extra work...

It is in my Trex now and working good... all it is is 3 relays and you wire the Aux switches to the code you want...
Say 2 and 6... those go to the normally open relay and the rest go to the normally closed relay locking out the starter if all the switches are not in the rite position...

Also on the 3rd normally closed relay, you run the +12v thru the NO contacts to the horn...

Feel free to ask me or comment
What amperage do the relays need to handle? 30 amp, 40 amp?

For the faraday box to be effective do you have to leave the fob in your car? I dont get how it would help if say you went to the movies and your fob is with you.

. . .you'd have a faraday bag ( like the size of an eyeglasses pouch or something.)

The one I have is made by Mission Darkness

Cool. Just ordered some. Security should be multi layered. I'm going to go old school with a club and a hidden kill switch. Like the relay idea as well. I still dont have my truck yet so I have time to think it over. Waiting on WS. Then figure it will be a month in transit.

Trx group..... The Aux switch vid is my post...

Here is the post... I plan on throwing up a simple schematic for it.....

It is in place and working great without issue...

Original post.. There have been a few posts About the theft of our vehicles and basically all the hellcat lineup.. I had my 2018 Trackhawk stolen 6 months ago. Thieves use a relay device to extend and duplicate the key fob and drive away our vehicles without broken glass, or broken ignition in only a minute or two. After discussion with a buddy about his kill switch location and the idea of fuel cut out vs starter lock out, I had the thought of using a "keypad" type code kill switch, using the 6 auxiliary switched as a keypad.. Hiding the kill switch in plain site so to speak.. With 2 normally open and one normally closed relay contacts any specific code can be made.. Only when the correct chosen auxiliary switches are on and the others must be off (to avoid random button pushing) will the starter be allowed.. Furthermore If any of the "wrong" switches are turned on not only will it open the normally closed contact to disable the starter, but the normally open contacts on the 3rd relay are ran to the horn. So if someone did violate the door got in and tried to start it, it would do nothing. If they randomly tried hitting switches, the wrong combination will beep the horn.. Of course it is just a deterrent, not a prevention.. And the hope is to slow them down or make it difficult enough for them to go find another.. Whichever way you would want to wire the 6 Auxilliary switches into the 3 relays can determine your code to allow the enable to the starter. Quick vid attached, and anyone wanting to try it feel free to message me. Easy to wire up and hide... Just thought I'd share the Idea, good or bad... and of course I'll be changing my sequence...
Hey man! Where is the link to your video? Love the idea of simply having an aux switch open/close the starter. However, I suck with electrical stuff haha. Still working good?

I just took delivery of my TRX yesterday. Holy crap this thing is awesome. It is impossible to drive it slow. I looked at the speedo and I was going 100 and it felt like maybe 55 at the most.

I am taking security very seriously on this truck.
I bought one of these steering wheel locks off amazon
It fits and it does not mar my steering wheel

BUT you can still move the wheel side to side about 25 degrees until it hits the window on the left or the seat on the right.
Seems like you could still drive onto a trailer or at least move it somewhat. I know no security is perfect and I am also going to run the Trigger one relay and maybe the drone tracking system.

Has anyone used this Disklok before or considered it?
Vs just the old school club bar?

Thanks!

You might want to take the break-in period seriously too my man! ;)

Maybe check out Ravelco for that additional peace of mind.

dealer sales guy told me there was no break in period.
I have not dogged it to full capacity yet. Im still getting used to it!

I think this idea is very creative. Couple of questions.

1) I assume you can't use the aux switches for the intended purpose once you wire something like this up?

2) I assume remote start would not work?

I might've missed it, but I didn't see these questions answered in the thread? Can you still use the AUX switches from your pin code to operate other mods like light bars, winches etcetera? I assume this interrupts remote start?

Club on the steering wheel and a tractor trailer boot, 2 way voice recording cameras and a big ass German Shepherd and a bigger cat

This thread is duplicative in many ways from earlier threads, so I recommend you search older ones for TONS of detailed information. I will attempt to summarize a few of the salient points here:

1) LAYER 1 - For whatever reason, it is fairly easy to circumvent the RF key fob system on TRXs (and Dodge, and Jeep, and Chrysler) if you have the right equipment (which isn't terribly hard to get if the thief makes the effort). There are various ways this is done, but they all amount to "cloning" your fob somehow. There are also many separate methods of defeating these attacks, depending on the method the thief uses. IMHO, the best way to beat this problem is not to chase individual defeats (faraday pouches, RF module lockdown, etc.), but rather to add another interrupt, separate from the RF system. There are several aftermarket solutions for this (Ravelco, Mobilistics starter relay, etc.). They all have their pros and cons, and there is no universally acknowledged "best one." Look into them and decide for yourself.

2) LAYER 2 - If all that failed, and they manage to steal your truck anyway, then you can look at various ways to track it down. Apple Air Tags perhaps being the easiest and cheapest, but there are MANY systems out there that are more sophisticated if you want to go that route. Risk involved here also, as vehicle theft is low priority / no priority for most police departments. Trying to recover it yourself comes with its own risks. Up to you how/if you want to pursue this.

3) There is NO full-proof method. At the very least, as long as tow trucks exist, cars can be stolen no matter what you put on them. Only question is how much money and inconvenience are you willing to invest to make it harder, so they move on to an easier mark.

Hope this helped.
