AFE transmission pan

Even at the lowest point of the stock pan there’s over 4” of clearance. So at worst case with the new pan 2.75”. Skid plate would have to get pretty well bent and destroyed to hit the pan. Maybe @FULLTHROTTLERICK would find the limits but I think everyone else would be fine.

If anyone could find the limits it would be him!

I got the SKU's added. With the margin on these things I don't think a group buy is going to be able to be done. This specific SKU we are getting 13% off of MAP which is $382. Which after platform fees leaves us with very little margin to play with.

However AFE lists at MSRP which is a little higher ($401), so if anyone would like to pre-order they are on the site. Apologize if anyone got too excited.

Another option came out from Applied Torque Solutions:
  • 2.5qt fluid increase over stock.
  • Uses factory gasket & bolts.
  • Uses BMW ZF Transmission Filter instead.
    • Supposedly has a better pickup than the ones in the 8HP90/95s.
  • Does NOT contain a magnetic drain plug. Uses a standard NPT plug.
    • Relies on the magnets that are built into the filter. All ZF filters, from what I've seen, come with magnets on the exterior of the filter.
  • Pricey at $1000+
    • Even accounting for the filter, gasket, and bolts, you're looking at double the cost for a billet part and an extra 0.5qt capacity over the aFe offering.

My built trans likes to buck like a horse when fluid temps are below 60°F. I've been tossing around the idea of installing a transmission pan heater. They require a flat surface to adhere to, so the aFe option looks to be an ideal candidate.

@Nick797 do you know if the AFE tranny pan comes with a new gasket and bolts? And if those bolts are longer or stock length?
Doesn't mention it and all of the 8HP70 pans come with a bare ass pan so i'd expect the same here unfortunately lol but when you buy a new filter from mopar they have a service kit which is the gasket, filter and bolts. That's what I did on my hellcat.

Transmission pans are pretty much same, we have metal pans (makes it nice as we can just buy a filter only, comes with gasket too), other models have plastic. A higher capacity trans pan is always a good upgrade imo, only issue might be exhaust/y-pipe and possibly skid plate but I doubt it comes down that far past the frame rails.
