“Plug and play” anti-theft kill switch

So, I'm an accountant and I'll likely mess something up if I do this myself. Does anyone want to build and sell these set-ups, so newbs like me can just plug it into the start button and route the kill switch somewhere hidden?
Have you seen this thread? @maestro5531 is selling the harnesses for $25. You'd still have to wire up the switch to it, but it's not rocket science.

Wish I saw this earlier..... Parked my car at a store for 10 minutes walked out to no truck...

Sorry man, can you give us any details? Did you have any aftermarket theft deterrents?

That sucks, When did it happen?
Sunday night. Looks like I was being tracked. Waited for me to park to steal it. I park inside garages at all other times.

Zero deterrents unfortunately. One of those "won't happen to me situations". Rarely ever leave it outside. If I get the video released from police I will post here. But seems to be a OBD port key clone situation.

Man thats crazy. Sorry to hear would a faraday pouch have stopped that?

Not if they broke/drilled the window. Pouch keeps them from opening door without breaking something, not from taking it.

I know the feeling - sorry to hear that - its a shitty feeling for sure - mine was also stolen in Ontario in December - I had the same theft deterrents as you did. I can promise you that will not happen to me again - I will not be that naive with the new truck.

Ahh man yeh that's 4 days ago, I would call the Montreal police and get it on their radar, maybe it might get found. Chances are it's in a container in the port or on a ship by now unfortunately. I too fell victim back in January, I was waiting on some things to be done to the truck but the bastards got it beforehand. I hope you have good luck and they find it.

Has anyone considered hiding an AirTag in your truck to allow tracking if it is stolen?

Somebody mentioned in a different thread that when his truck was stolen they found and dumped his AirTags

So does remote start still work with the kill switch on? Can't thief clone ur key then start it by using remote start? or they still need to hit the start button to be able to shift into drive idk

Remote start still works as normal. And yes, they would still need to hit the start button (which would be disabled by the kill switch) before the truck would go anywhere. I posted a video of a remote start operation on the first page showing that. It’s simple, but it works as well as you can hide the switch and wiring.

Im not the expert but I think your last sentence is accurate.

Yea I figured. This is a great solution!!

Hi folks trying to do this once maestro's harness comes in. As far as the switch goes do you have to cover the back side with something so the wire area is not exposed? Like what OP did its kinda floating in empty space as you can tell I am a noob at this

In my case I soldered the wires to the switch and then wrapped it in Tesa tape. You can also use simple spade connectors if you prefer. Weatherproof ones will provide a more secure connection and also insulate the connections from accidental shorting.

Basically, the back of the switch doesn’t need to be covered so to speak, but you’d want to ensure there is no possibility of shorting.

Anyone ever have a issue where it seems like a fuse blew installing this harness? I disconnected the kill switch harness and plugged into the oem harness and still no power?

Any recommendations?
