I have been looking at all possible ways to mount a light bar on the TRX without compromising aesthetics or functionality.

1) Mounting to the bumper looks terrible, the goal is to make it almost look like it came from the factory with the light bar installed and can't be done just bolting it to the bumper.

2) Mounting behind the grill does not look bad but the light bar function is compromised from the obstruction of the grill flutes.

After looking at numerous different solutions for integrating components this is what I think would be the simplest and most functional option. The bar would sit on the existing bumper "hump" and that would be the footprint. An injection-molded body would match the radius of the factory hump and house the custom light bar which has a slight radius to it. Mixed beam optics would provide the best peripheral vs long range lighting compromise.

Obviously being made specifically for the TRX the price would be higher than a normal light bar, I am trying to determine if this is something you guys would be interested in and if you would prefer this over just a standard light bar option.

UPDATE: The thread is several pages long now so here are some photos of the working prototype installed.

Well, it looks really good, at least from that close up. I fear it might look a little small relatively to the rest of the front of the truck in real life, so the same photoshop would be helpful if it were from farther back so we can see the entirety of the truck.

Also, how many lumen do you think you could get from ten or so leds, and could you make them in both spot and flood versions?

Thanks.

Looks good so far from what I see.. I would be in for one..

I just posted some rebel specific lighting that may or may not work.

Excellent questions, yes here is a wide shot

Honestly the light bar should not be the focal point of the front end, the truck looks great and we dont want to change that. Making it larger will restrict airflow and (our opinion) subtract from the truck's aesthetics. The pictured size is what our initial objective was.

As for how bright this will be, we are running some thermal simulations but feel that we can built the thermal management where we could drive the 12 (or 10) 10watt LEDs pretty hard. That would make about 14,000 theoretical lumens of max output.

Yes, the idea would to have the more focused projection in the center and the wider pattern towards the sides.

this needs to happen!

Will it work with the front camera? I have the 360 view setup, and there's a little camera housing nub that hangs down right in the center of that opening... :/ I can pull some dimensions for it tomorrow if that helps?
