2023 Ram TRX Havoc
Hey y'all,
Haven't posted anything in a while been super busy with work it's been exhausting but I picked up my 2023 Ram TRX Havoc Edition from Napelton Clermont about 2 months ago now. I'll attach some pictures below It's been an amazing truck and managed to rack up 2,000 miles on it so far. I've even did some towing with it for my company. Last weekend on Sunday (5/21) I took the TRX to cars and coffee, wanted to take something different. I believe while at the show someone attached a tracker to the truck. The night after, (Monday 5/22) or technically Tuesday morning around 2 AM I was doing some paperwork and boring shit when my girlfriend who was watching a movie asked why there was a black ford backing down the driveway with a trailer. I'll paint a picture of the property otherwise this won't make sense. My house isn't in a neighborhood, and it sits on 2.3 acres. The driveway is pretty long and there are trees on either side. It's not the easiest driveway to back a trailer down of but it's not impossible. If I could do it, I know most people can, but the driver had a really tough time trying to backing up in the dark. I own 13 guns I grabbed one of my bigger ones and started turning on all the lights possible Infront of the house to try and scare them away. I'm a hunter but I've never shot a person. Luckily it didn't get to that point as soon as the front porch light came on, they drove away quickly. They were smart enough to take the plates off the trailer, couldn't see if the truck had plates or not. I know it was a new generation F150 (2021 or newer) black looks like a XLT or Lariat hooked to an open one car trailer. My property has a cheap wood fence around it, but the driveway is open, there's no gate. Scared they may come back I took one of the Peterbuilt's from the backyard and blocked the driveway entrance. I also moved my Trans Am to the backyard under a trailer shed and put the TRX in the garage. Tuesday afternoon I took it to get inspected for any trackers. You wouldn't see my driveway from the road, so I know they either saw me when I was entering or leaving my house or attached a tracker to it. They found 2 trackers. One under the rear bumper and one under the passenger sidestep. I've called and agreed for a company to come and build a metal gate around my house they said the process would take around 2 weeks. I've left the Trans Am in the backyard and been parking the TRX in the garage for now. I only have a 3-car garage. I don't know what the next step is. I don't feel comfortable knowing these dickheads know where I live. I stopped by the police department, and they basically told me they couldn't do anything which I figured they couldn't, hence why I didn't bother calling them. I leave all the lights on in front of the house now, but I can't always keep the driveway blocked. I bought the tazer just for the Amber DRLs didn't bother setting up the pin since I thought I lived in a safe enough area. I obviously set up the pin since then.

Realized I’ve never attached the pictures so here y’all go

Glad you were able to prevent those scumbags from stealing your property! Get that fence finalized, build a bigger garage, and have those firearms ready to go!

Wild story. Any more info on the trackers? What kind were they? Any way to scan for them yourself in the future?
I did some research prior to taking it to get inspected and I questioned them on Frequency Detectors and Electronic Sweepers. They said they could be useful devices and will track most cheap tracking devices, but it won't detect all types of trackers. They showed me what they used to detect trackers. They had 5 different machines, each valued at about $1,500. I don't know what type of tracker was used but it was a very small circle shape, even if I saw it under the truck I wouldn't think it was a tracker.

Holy Hell! That’s a wild story. I’d think about a security system on the house.

Had some assholes break into my garage where my TRX is always parked a few months back. The garage now has its own separate alarm system separate from my house alarm. Also equipped the doors with timers that shut the power off to them.
Interesting, I'll definitely look into that.

all it is is a smart plug. You plug the door opener into it. You can shut it on and off with an app and set a schedule for it to turn off and on at the same time everyday. I did this because they broke in through the window and opened all my garage doors once inside

crazy story, your home sounds similar to my layout. I’m so sick and tired of hearing about this theft.

Unfortunately these meets are a gold mine for this shitbags. Lot of balls bringing a truck that was probably stolen also, to trailer it out.

Question for you is what kind of trackers were found. Like LTE one’s off Amazon?

Can't the police contact the gps tracker company to see who purchased it? I'm sure they have a serial number or registered online in order to track

Damn, that's scary. Glad they didn't get a chance. I'd look into IGLA or Ravelco and pairing it with a compustar if you don't have anything like that already.

Not necessarily, depends on the mfg and where they are based out of. The cellular company will cooperate for sure, but that’ll only reveal the selling company. The question is less about can they do it, but in todays world, will they.

If you want to go scorched earth investigation you can file a John Doe lawsuit (defendant unknown) and then use the power of subpoena (rubber stamped by most courts) to get a bunch of info from the cellular companies, manufacturers, etc. and get more info than the selling company (who you can also subpoena). I’ve seen this done against unknown rogue employees who do dumb stuff and we eventually figure out who it was. We also do this against counterfeiters on Amazon (though Amazon is a pain to deal with). A good attorney who knows his stuff and has experience with John Doe investigation lawsuits could do it. Can probably get it done for less than 5k. Most privacy policies for companies have exceptions for court orders and subpoenas.

A disgruntled employee launched a “private” website to defame a millionaire client of mine. We filed a John Doe, issued a subpoena to the privacy registrar (that the employee used to hide her registration) and they had to provide the info and we caught her. I always love catching stupid disgruntled employees heh, and the same tactics could be used in this instance me thinks….

We're going to need a theft sub forum soon to accommodate all these posts.

I bet you can leave the keys and a "take me" sign in a Honda Ridgeline and still return to your vehicle. That's a restful nights sleep we'll never understand.
