UPDATED to DT877 review :For those with pulley and tune, would you do it again?

I put my catch can on tonight, I will say that I felt on a stock motor there was no point in having one…… I can confidently say I was wrong. The hose had a fairly decent film and coating throughout. View attachment 156047
Dude 100% needed. Even my wife's Pentastar GCL fills her can halfway every 2 weeks and she doesnt even daily drive it

You definitely have a problem with your Jeep GC (or it's just condensation) if it's filling the can every 2 weeks, a NA motor especially one as anemic as that 3.6 has absolutely no need of a catch can.

I've actually seen the catch cans fill up fast depending on the conditions. When I'm travelling to areas with extreme cold and at high elevation mine will fill up so fast I have to dump the catch can every time I fill up. It will do the same on our other vehicles with a can also, not just the TRX. I'd imagine really high humidity would cause them to fill up quick also. Under normal conditions around here it takes months to fill one up though.

3.6 can be a dirty motor for sure. Pulling the intake manifold off of mine at 100k was an eye opener.

I don’t run a catch can on it because it’s mainly a winter vehicle and don’t wanna babysit the condensation constantly. But I did replace the PCV valve which seemed to help. Also running oils with far lower NOACK than the dealer 0w20 at 12%+ these things are usually fed.

We've had 7-8 Pentastars and they are filthy! Normal person would never think a N/A non-performance v6 would need one but man does it ever. Which oil do you run in your Pentastar? Cant justify the redline price tag but am open to other options for sure.

You would think that but you couldnt be more wrong. We've had 7-8 of them in different applications and all of them were filthy pigs when it comes to filling the can. I remember when i had a Hemi-Durango and my wife had a Pentastar Grand Cherokee and hers would fill up almost 2x faster than mine. I was like WTF!

That's crazy had no idea they were that bad. The wife's 392 can fills up maybe 3/4 between oil change's and the TRX doesn't get a lot in the can. Always expecting it to be full, but it never has that much in it.

My wife's 22 jeep wrangler is the same, fills the can twice as fast as the Rex does.

Of course I am running RL (5w30 or 0w40 depending on my stockpile). But you can still get much lower volatility with a cheap Walmart 5w30. M1 and PUP are both in the 7-8% range which should reduce deposits and the amount you’re collecting. Vaporized oil has really only one place to go and it’s through the PCV…

Solid. I've only changed it once since we ran out of the Wave program freebies and just put M1 in there. I just ordered another few gallons of RL for the Rex and it looks like prices went up a bit. Jegs had the lowest price at $60/gallon with discount code. Where do you usually get your RL?

Well you're wrong, but that's ok, the only thing you're getting in your GC catch can is condensation clouded up with exhaust particulate.

Ya might've convinced me if i didnt own like 8 of these vehicles already. I've probably spent 8 hours of my life emptying the cans on these things.

With that, I can say with absolute certainty that you sir are 100% wrong!

Did the final data logging which required a full pull from a dig. Truck feels exceptionally strong.
At 6K feet of elevation you lose a huge amount of power, this kit brought it all back and then some. I only wish I would have done it sooner so I could have felt the power at sea level.

Again my favorite part is that driving normally you wouldn’t know anything is different, truck doesn’t shift rough or abruptly, runs smooth etc..

Dusterhoff shipping was quick, they are extremely responsive to any questions you may have.

Self install or did you have a shop do it?

Did you happen to record your 0 to 60 times before and after?

Had a shop, I was unsure about doing the upper pulley.

I have 0-60 times from sea level, but those wouldn’t make sense to compare.
I only compared boost levels at elevation unfortunately.

Update after a few weeks of driving…
I should have done this a long time ago!!!

Midrange power is amazing, truck doesn’t ever feel strained.

Transmission tune is perfect, gets aggressive when you need it to be.

For anyone on the fence just do it!!

Friend of mine has an fas lower pulley and it’s nowhere near close to how aggressive on throttle or power this is.

Trying to get a few races setup for comparison

May as well throw a stock one in the mix to see how it does against them 🦖 🏁.

Happen to have a Dragy? Would be interesting to see some times at your altitude.
