A little bit of background first.. My 21 has rolled past 100k miles, and my snout bearings are making some noise. I'm the type that if I'm going to fix something, make it better. So now I'm on a journey to 800 rwhp.

I've contacted some shops that specialize in supercharger rebuilds and come up with:

Ported snout
Ported bearing plate
108mm throttle body

I want to locate a reliable tuner to help me figure out injectors sizing and pulley sizing. Looking for flex tune capability E85/93 (Livernois runs a package that dynos at 770 rwhp on E85 using 1300cc injectors but an unknown pulley size using stock snout and throttle body).

I will be installing these mods myself as I drive my truck for work and can't send it somewhere for two weeks. Will be purchasing an unlocked ecm with my stock tune.

Dusterhoff is super easy to work with. I just purchased the DT877 package, so far they are super responsive and have a great forum reputation.
The below package should be the kind of power your looking for.

Member here (IGLA dealer as well) can unlock your pcm and return it same day so downtime is not long, will save you a ton of money. Had mine back in 2 days. As far as tuning, Satera remote tuned mine, great experience and runs great

I looked at DT, unfortunately that package you have linked is E85 only. With some of the areas I drive to for work not having E85 at stations I wanna stick to a flex tune.

Looking online an unlocked pcm runs about 600 bucks, if i can get it done for less with a two day turnaround ill ship it to him before vacation on the 20th. Do you have contact info for them?

To and from shipping to him then I think $150 for unlock,

That’s a bit of a tough build for flex on the stock blower…might be doable (I’m not sure your altitude or risk tolerance on easing RPM) but hard to run low enough boost for flex and still pick up the 230whp you are looking for out of the package. From my experience the porting on the snout and bearing plate didn’t yield any power gains at my boost levels when running flex (14-15 psi which is safe limit on pump gas). The porting only helped once those areas become the bottleneck which is with spinning the blower considerably higher (18-19 psi).

Don’t know your altitude but most folks can max out a flex build with a 2.85 upper only. Run the normal supporting mods (tstat, injectors, intake, etc) and longtubes might get you close depending on the DA. The other option would be to just go the Kong 2650 route for something that is reliable and just a bit more heat efficient to get you the 800whp on a flex setup.

FWIW I have never seen anything great come out of Livernois or anyone be able to back up their numbers. I would still go with either Dusterhoff or ZH for tuning regardless of the package you put together.

This is helpful, thanks. Realistically I'm aiming for most bang for my buck, if 800 is a reach then that's OK. I do absolutely need to replace my bearings in my snout, and I'm seeing websites claim 40-70 hp gains from porting snout and Bearing plate, whether that's true or not idk.

I could rebuild my snout myself, but honestly having a hard time finding bearings from a reliable source. And despite my mechanical aptitude, snout rebuild looks to be a bit more tedious of a task than I really want to do, I've done a lot of engine work on other machines, idk if the guide I read was exaggerated but setting besring depths would be difficult for me. I cant send it off for rebuild due to turnaround, so next best is a direct replacement unit. If porting really won't make much difference I can just save some money and go stock with upgraded bearings.

What's preventing me from doing a charger swap is the cost, as I'd still need injectors and supporting mods on top of the 6k supercharger. I do have a wife, for now 🤣

Again, you might get a few hp out of that porting but it won’t be the 40-70 at that power level. Spin the blower harder on a dedicated e85 setup and then you will see the porting pay dividends. It’s something a lot of shops won’t tell you because they are just advertising what their product “can” do rather that what it will do for different setups.

I’m not usually one to recommend long tubes because the bang for the buck isn’t great IMO but when you are trying to max out a setup that also has to function on pump gas I think they become an option. That port work is going to increase boost so throwing in some longtubes to drop it back down might help keep you in the safe range of pump gas on the flex tune while keeping the overall motor happy in terms of back pressure.

Since you are already sending out the blower I would just have Kong do a full rebuild on the blower and snout bearings along with your port work. Good choice on not porting the blower runners though.

OP,

If you can please detail this build on a thread. Im sure many here would love to follow it.

Only thing I’ll add…while you’re in there replace the coupler pin bushings. Mine were/are worn out and after swapping to an unclutched pulley I have a rattle sound at idle because of it. Bought replacements from SDG, just sucks I’ll have to lift blower and pull the snout again to install them. One thing I wish I would have had on hand when I did the job the first time…
