TRX vs Ford FP700 on an F150 SuperCab

I just purchased a 2024 F150 5.0 FX4 as a daily driver. The FP700 package seemed interesting, but dealer and some research said it was not compatible with crew cab or 4x4. I agree with a lot of folks here... That is sure a lot of power on the factory base tranny. The salesman also told me Ford will not provide an extended warranty beyond the 3/36. ~$12,000 installed.

If it's like the one in the video, there's no chance it's pulling a TRX if it's 2WD. I don't see the attraction. It's just a regular F150 with 700HP... boring.
I agree 1000%. A Rex [ stock ] will smoke it from a dig and the 150 will only the see the TRX tail gate. Not a Rex in any shape even SC!👎👎

As someone said it'll leave you on the side of the road and with your dealer passing the buck.

yup. Not going to chance it. One thing though... Having Android Auto on a full 12 ich Screen sure beat the 1/2 screen that the RAM Software Engineering team still cannot send a fix for, besides that the TRX is better in every way (...well payload and towing too).

Having Android Auto
“Having a peasant phone” -fixed it for you 😂
I always give my buddies crap about it when I see the green text bubbles. The following clip lives rent free in my head whenever I say it lol

700hp is nothing to the 10r80, that can handle it all day long and same goes for the Coyote engine. This is a very simple and common set up that has been around for years. Sure it is quick, but not really fast. As others have said, it is not an apples to apples comparison to the TRX.

This is the most hilarious comment! Is 700 bhp in anything really boring? I like you @IdahoKTM. It goes to show how spoiled we are with TRX.

It's also a bit interesting how our locale jades our interest. In TX, the offroad scene is way different than I imagine it is Idaho. In TX, everything is private land with the exception of a few offroad parks, which are better suited for side by sides, ATVs and Jeeps. They're not at all designed to accommodate TRX. Thus, the most my TRX sees is a muddy road. Really all I need is a fast street truck. I suspect the wide open space and public lands in Idaho allows you to really use the TRX.

The whole question of whether an F150 can handle 700 bhp is the real question, and probably the reason you don't see more of them on the road. $12k installed is a pittance to pay for 700 bhp.

700 HP would only get me so far, then I'd realize that I'm driving around in a plain 'ole F150. If it was the Shelby Super Snake, that would be different. That truck looks great and handles much better too.

Idaho has a shit ton of public land and I get to ride some of the best singletrack trails in the county on my dirt bike. There are also thousands of miles of Jeep roads, etc. that would suit the TRX, but I just don't enjoy four wheeling. Every time I've gone out four wheeling, I'd look over at the guys on their dirt bikes, wishing I was on mine too.

I've always admired the TRX and the Raptor. Badass looking trucks that go fast. I knew I'd never use one as they were intended, but I just wanted to have one before they were gone. I still enjoy the crap out of driving my TRX. It looks great, sounds awesome, and has an interior that rivals luxury SUV's. Eventually I might get bored with it and move on, but that hasn't happened yet.

So just a heads up that you can in fact order them in a Supercab and 4x4 configuration... Link below. My earlier question on performance was just to set expectations if one of these units finds itself beside me on the interstate, or a stop light. Sounds like in stock trim, a 4x4 FP700 unit might hang with our stock TRXs in the quarter mile. (+/-)

Another item to consider is the 105 mph speed limiter. I believe they know that 700 hp is too much for a work truck drive shaft. It’s a badass truck, but just don’t think the truck chassis or driveline is engineered to handle 700hp for a long period of time. Short rips to 105 and burnouts would be a blast, just have an extra set of tires and an extra drive shaft or two ready to go.
