The “How much should I sell my TRX for” thread.

Crap I meant to include that…..$79,128.
So they're basically offering MSRP. THat means they figure they can get at least a few thousand over MSRP on a year old one. Hell, throw it up on facebook marketplace for $5k over. If it doesn't sell in a few weeks, dump it to the toy barn.

Yea I think I will give that a try.

My truck is currently on the market for $1,000,000. Open to reasonable offers.

Plenty of level ones here in Portland/ Vancouver area new for 100000 . Level twos fully loaded new for 110000 to 122000. Shouldn't have any problems getting 85 at all. Nobody knows about getting great deals on TRX except for people on this forum. I was shocked and pissed at the same time when I first saw the light. Saved me from buying my limited 3500 with the ho diesel and Aisin transmission!

I hope to see these dealers stuck with these 2021s well into 2022. Been down the 10k over ADM road before and it leaves a really BAD taste in your mouth that really never goes away. Like being stolen from in all actuality

First of all BaT won’t take it. It’s a current mass produced vehicle that’s not any special edition and they steer clear of those unless they‘re handcranking the wiener warmer of a dealer that’s feeding them a lot of other business.

As far as determining what the fair value of any car is it is easy to figure it out … ask a couple of dealers in person and online what their offer is. They will hope to sell it at least 10% over that. So if you add 5% or a little more from the average dealer purchase offer you will be placing the car at a price where you make more than trade in and the buyer is buying it for less than they would from that same dealer. That’s the sweet spot where it’s a good deal for both parties and the dealer gets redundant.

You can try and push it by getting greedy but most buyers will not pay the same to buy from a private party as they would to a dealer because they do get some consumer protection and convenience from a dealer purchase, so unless you get super lucky a private seller will not get what a dealer gets for the same ordinary vehicle. And for a grand or so most sellers would rather get a check from a dealer on the spot and avoid the hassle of trying to sell privately.

Again, split the difference between trade/wholesale and retail and the vehicle will sell at it’s correct current market value. And if the offer is fair and within that range take it and move on. The greedier you get the less incentive a buyer or seller has to engage with each other and will default to a dealership.

Possibly. I will say that route tends to be much simpler than dealing with the tire kickers and the negative nannies.

Agreed - easier sales process than dealing with people from craigslist or autotrader. I would sell to one of the online places...I just wish my 2022 would arrive already!

BaT used to be awesome, now it is the same thing as Cargurus/Autotrader, mainly dealers on their selling overpriced cars...Used to be enthusiasts selling, but once they permitted dealers that changed the narrative of their auction.

Yes, they will take TRXs, and not from dealers only - you can click into the Seller's profile, but yeah, I guess a dealer could collude with BaT to make multiple screen names to give off the perception they are not a dealer...

Yea I agree on the bad taste. During my search for one at MSRP I would simply hang up on dealers that would start with their “well its a specialty vehicle”……

A lot of good ideas and points from everyone. If I do sell it I will go with the Autotrader/BAT/Marketplace route first and if no takers then just let a dealer have it.

Some great information right here. I appreciate it!

A friend of mine is a used car dealer and wanted a TRX for personal use thru his dealership....a few weeks ago a couple sold on Manheim for well over sticker price.....I think we are in a little bubble here because we see good deals on ordered trucks....but for the most part many people look for and buy a truck without even knowing about this site....

I fully agree with you. Most people won’t put in the effort to find one at MSRP or lower.
