I'm in Houston and ordered a 2023 from Mark Dodge in Lake Charles, La. I have never driven a TRX before. I went to several dealerships here in Houston seeking a test drive. Guess how that went....

They wanted me to fill out a credit application and start process to purchase from them. One dealer in particular actually had about 10 pre-owned on the lot.

It's kind of amazing I have a TRX today..

Was interested in this truck the moment I heard about it... Finally saw my local dealership (A Dealership, where I've bought 2 new trucks in the last couple of years) had one on the lot... I dragged the wife out for a test drive, and they gave me a firm "NOPE"

I lost my shit, told them to look up the amount of business I've given them.

They relented... and let me drive it... but wouldn't budge off their ridiculous asking price.

I told them to FO... A few weeks later...I emailed the sales manager my contract, on basically the same truck (but better equipped, and 1 model year newer)

His response was.... Mark my words... you'll never see delivery of it.

Well, I got it obviously (3k under MSRP in Hemet) and sent him a picture of me in front of my truck.. holding my contract, while flipping him off.

He never replied.... Would have been even funnier if I had got it from Koons or Granger etc...

Good story! Got mine from Koons well below MSRP. No regrets!

Bought my C7 Z06 without a test drive.......ZERO disappointment.
Bought my HC RE without a test drive......ZERO disappointment.
Bought the TRX without a test drive......ZERO disappointment.
I just didnt feel the need for test drive, maybe I am nutz!

But yeah, the dealerships are not going to let you take it for a test drive. If you were buying a 2022 Honda Accord, they would throw you the keys in a heartbeat. TRX no, C8 no, Z06 no, HC no, HC RE no, etc........

My local had no problem letting me take out one of their 2 used TRXs by myself and I didn't even buy my 392 or TRX there though I have bought a number of other vehicles there (they just refuse to deal on "SRT" vehicles). I just texted my salesman from previous deals and said I'm going to ride over and check out the TRX since I have one on order (he knows why it's not through him) and he said yeah no worries take it for a spin and see if you like it. This was after I ordered mine though as they didn't have one on the lot while I was deciding on it. They also let us take out a new 392 when we test drove that and a 4XE before we ordered the 392 from Granger (again they wouldn't deal on "SRT" or "specialty" vehicles). Small town vs big city probably but they're pretty laid back around here.

I'm certain I will not be disappointed. I bought my wife an Audi and the dealer did not come with us on the test drive. I guess I'm just thinking don't be mad at me that I'm not buying from you. He wants me to spend $98K on a pre-owned 2022 TRX, instead of a better equipped 2023 for $10K less. $10K for a test drive, no thanks.

There's a lot of guys here with a TRX that are around your area... Can't any one help a brotha out with a ride along?? 🍻

I'm in Temecula, come on down!

I have a little spot, about a 1/4 mile from me, that's about a 1/2 mile long dragstrip... the only business on that road is a nursery, that closes at 5pm :p

Lol. Sounds like we have the same taste. Bought my 17Z and C8 without ever sitting in one. I did see a TRX up close at a local dealer but never sat in it prior to ordering from Granger. No regrets about any of them. If one has their heart set on a vehicle a drive really isn’t needed IMO.

I have a similar story from a dealership here in Arizona. I was looking for a Charger Hellcat WB the guy refused to help me out and said I was too poor to afford one anyway. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit and there was almost no new car inventory so I settled for a Scat. I kinda wanna set an appointment with him once the TRX arrives and show him what a douchebag he is.

New car dealers are not interested in letting you test drive a new one. I found a local car dealership with a used one and just stopped by to look at it. The first words out of the salesman's mouth was "want to take it for a test drive" and I said "why not"

i've never really had any problem test driving anything before the "chip shortage".. problem was (still is but getting better) with the trx when i was shopping, all the dealerships i visited before my purchase either do not have it in stock, or the truck they have on their lot is already sold.. i wouldn't want my truck being test driven while its waiting for me to pick up, completely understandable.

So....when I was looking at purchasing a TRX, I initially went to my local dealer (I had just purchased my 21 Rebel from them). I wanted them to order me the TRX at MSRP. They wanted 5K over. Wouldn't budge. I told them about what the power brokers were offering and they didn't believe it was real either. The next day I called Granger and put my deposit down.

That being said, I have taken my TRX to my local dealer for service - without issue - so I am glad I didn't get sassy pants with them.....the service department happens to be pretty cool and all the techs know me (one of them bought my 4 month old WRX STI that I traded in for the Rebel...haha).

I was never given the chance to even drive mine until I signed all paperwork. For any other vehicle that is a big no no but for the TRX I didnt care

You're more forgiving than me.... I won't give those assbags a chance to do even warranty work.

At the end of the day, the Dealer I ended up getting it from, is only about 20 more minutes down the road.
