Hey everyone,
I was hoping to get some good information or feedback back to anyone’s that’s switched over to E85
My reason is mainly to pay less per fill up. Nothing to do with power or modifications. My TRX is completely stock.
Does anyone here have any pros and cons they can let me aware of before going through with this?
Is it a bad idea?
The set up I found is made by Eflexfuel. The EFlexPro. It looks pretty simply to instal: there’s a DIY video on their website: to be able to run E85 or any mixed blend.
Or is there a better one out there that you guys would recommend
Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you guys

You'll be saving per fill-up but will be filling up more often as E85 is ~30% less efficient. Overall I doubt you will be any saving any $.
But if you're still going to E85 might as well mod it probably meaning flex tune with supporting mods and not the kit linked.

E85 has been running $1.69-$1.99 in my area versus premium at $4.99-$5.49. So it does actually save money even with the fuel economy hit. I just haven’t realized those savings yet because I don’t drive my truck a lot and it cost me a few thousand to convert mine to flex fuel the correct way.

I remember seeing a couple people here running the eFlexFuel kit, but I personally couldn’t get on board with a piggyback setup like that. It’s just not ideal. Asks too much from the stock injectors to be safe, and also leaves too much power on the table without any timing adjustments.

Wow I didn’t realize it was that big of a gap. My area doesn’t really carry it and the last time I remembered seeing it that it was .50 to a dollar cheaper.

Yeah, always a huge gap here in Wisconsin. This is as of tonight but my last fill up was even better at $1.70/ gal.

Just checked the stations near me, they are .40 cents cheaper than regular and just about a dollar cheaper than premium.

You have some amazing pricing near you!!

I have the EFlexPro on my 23 RAM. Have had it on there for about 3 years now. I've had one issue with it about a year or so back, the module went bad and worked with Dan (I think that was his name) and had a new sent over within a few days. Easy to install and the app shows you everything you need to know. Happy to put you in contact with them to order a unit.

Do it the correct way with a flex tune from Dusterhoff. The stock injectors are not big enough to run E85. I have over 50k miles on my flex tune and it's been great.

Yes, you can make more HP with E85 IF!!!! My C7 ZO6 had extensive internal engine modifications. Included was a E85 conversion and detection system also a meth injection system. On my car 37 hp was gained on the E85 tune and the engine also had a nice lope due to timing change when running E85 (used about twice the amount of fuel on E85) which I did about half the time.

If you are doing this just for mpg purposes, you will be disappointed and to get a significant performance increase going to be expensive.

$1.99 is awesome. I live in IL in the middle of a cornfield and it may be .50 cheaper a gallon at the 1 station that carries it. So, like others have said I wouldn’t do it for economical reasons. Unless you have $1.99 e85 near you. I ran a Dusterhoff flex tune and a dedicated e85 tune for 15,000 miles with no issues on my TRX.

In California where I’m at, premium is sitting around $6.40 while E85 is $2.23
So it would be a significant difference when filling up, just didn’t know what issues I can run into if I converted it. Especially with the “piggy back” like the EFlexPro

Would you recommend the Dusterhoff?
And how much did that run you. If you don’t mind me asking

Other than module going bad once, you’ve had 0 issues with your truck? Runs the same? No lack of power that you can notice?
I see a lot of people saying they like the eflexplus and pro (mainly on instagram) which is why I started considering switching over

Man... $1.99 for e85 in Wisco? In Iowa its $2.99-$3.15 everywhere I fill up, still a couple a couple bucks shy of premium right now. My 718 GTS is running e85 and I've been contemplating it on the TRX... having the ability to run flex would be huge... currently planning on taking the 718 back to the 93 tune for winter storage :(

I would recommend Dusterhoff, worked with them on their DT937 flex fuel package along with the stage 1 cam this late spring. I did the install and Dusterhoff did the remote tune. With all the parts, gaskets, oil change, new plugs, coolant, etc was around 5k. I am far from a pro mechanic, but the install was fairly straight forward. I think the most frustrating was the electrical connectors :ROFLMAO: Also they usually run a Black Friday special.

+1 for Dusterhoff, I have the dt877 package and they were great to work with.

100% recommend Dusterhoff and the flex fuel tune. Can’t remember pricing, it’s been a while and had additional parts/tunes. I did all the install myself. I think all you need is injectors and a pulley.

Another for Dusterhoff. DT937 package is what I went for.

If you wanted to save some money and install time you could skip the upper pulley and just do injectors and a PCM unlock, and have him do the flex tune. Curt was willing / able to do that for me but I said screw it and did the pulley too.
