Service 4wd Light Goes On and Off

2022 model with only 25k miles. I keep getting the service 4wd in yellow. There is no real pattern to it, but it will come on and go off, sometimes every few minutes while driving. The truck will engage 4 Hi and 4 Low without issue. It doesn’t seem to interfere much in the least, but it’s annoying all hell. It’s almost like there is a chaffed wire causing a short. I’m waiting on another scan tool that will check the C codes, but I am stumped. All the other service 4wd topics won’t let the truck shift to 4wd, but this isn’t the case for mine.

Update: Pulled the C codes and it was C140A-11 and C140A-12. Both point to short in a wire or the harness to the transfer case motor. With the on/off intermittent nature and the fact that the transfer case engages 4wd, it makes sense. Will be checking wiring today.

So far, I reseated the plug and cleaned as best I could without pulling the motor itself. Put 40 or so miles on it today after clearing the codes and it hasn’t come back as of yet. I hope it was that simple…I’ll update more as we go.

I’ll get some pics today. I left the transfer case skid plate off to make access a little easier. I need to get some dielectric grease in there anyway, so I’ll get pics when I do that. Just hoping this was all it was…
