Not surprised to find a scumbag dealer of course…

What is surprising is this tactic of listing an altered MSRP next to the real factory Monroney sticker. then when asked why that is, they say it’s because they bought the truck from another dealer at the higher MSRP. Problem is EVERY vehicle on the lot had the same tactic. This is at a major Charlotte dealer. Will attach photo…

Just another way to say ADM. When in person, easy enough to see the second sticker (hopfully not an edited monroney!) adjacent, but what's trickier is when it's online and the MSPR is auto populated, and then you find out about the change later after getting excited and/or travelling to see it.

Yes another very sneaky way to add ADM without calling it that. Just total nonsense

Yup. Perusing TRX's on Autotrader the yesterday, and found a small dealer with another Havoc. Listed for MSRP on Autotrader and Cars.com. Went to the dealer's website, and there was a $15k ADM.

So glad I found mine when I did (for MSRP), even if it was 3 hours away.

Here is an example. Curious, what do you think of those add-ons in terms of value, what is that ceramic worth? I was going to tint and ceramic the truck anyway. The ceramic they used is called "9H".

Bad dealers are a dime a dozen these days. I refuse to do business with a dealer who forces add-ons.

Look at one of the forum dealer. They sometimes have on the lot for MSRP someone backed out of.

9H refers to the hardness of the coating, not a particular brand or product. Call me cynical but it’s probably some run of the mill cheap crap, applied haphazardly and most definitely not worth $4,000. Most of the “add-ons” in that list fall under the same category. Just cash grabs for the dealer and not products that add value for you.

A proper ceramic coating from ceramic pro licensed or xpel licensed shop should be 1400-1800 retail....better if you know the guy. Thats a 5 year coating. 4k for some crappy spray on junk is for sure a rip off

All of those are the normal BS. most of the time they don't even do it, just list it on the sticker.
whats that $300 door cup????
200 for nitrogen... more than likely they didn't do anything but put a green cap on if that.
500 for the front two windows which costs more in the realm of 100
I would be curious if they even put the lo jack in.
The add ons realistically don't add any value to the truck. If you wanted to trade a truck in after 6 months and you told them you had this stuff done, not like they will give you more.
Don't give into the bad dealers, give your money to one that doesn't play games.

Wait, so the tint is not 5 windows? Do the rear door windows and rear window come from factory tinted?

Yes they do. Only windows not tinted from the factory is windshield and 2 front sides.

The dealer 40 miles from me offered their Havoc at MSRP after a week of negotiation. I was considering it, then I was turned onto a Lunar at the same price.

That small sticker is called a “bump” sticker for noted reasons above. I would personally never buy any new car that comes with a bump sticker.

Not bad to have the choice!

I had the smaller of the two dealers near me negotiated down to $5k over MSRP (from $15k). They wouldn't budge below that, nor make it up in trade-in. They ended up selling it to some guy from the western half of the state for $11k over.

If I could have found a Lunar close and at MSRP, I probably would have ended up with it instead. Although my favorite is the yellow right now, I would have been very happy with the gray (wife's Jeep GC is Granite Crystal and her Challenger is Destroyer Gray). Each has pros and cons.

Agreed.

I drove to the dealership unannounced. The salesman showed me the Havoc and said it's listed at MSRP, but it had a 10k ADM. I said I would be interested at MSRP only. A week later he calls and asks if I was still interested...yep, at MSRP. He says, he can let it go for 5k over. I said, no thanks. Two days later he calls and says he can let it go for MSRP. Literally one minute prior to that call a member on this site posted info about the Lunar at MSRP. I called the dealer with the Lunar and put a deposit down. I called the local dealer back with the news.

If the local dealer wouldn't have dicked around with the ADM, it's likely I would be driving a Havoc TRX right now.

Way overpriced. Ceramic on a new vehicle doesn’t require much paint correction and even doing a double coat with the 9h ceramic it would be less than half of that (a lot less). Nitrogen also doesn’t cost $199. We put nitrogen in every tire we replace or install and charge no extra. Its also $10 a tire if someone wants a full drain and fill with nitrogen. Takes 10 minutes. This looks like a way for them to get ADM without saying its ADM. they tried pulling this on me when I sold my redeye and got my SRT Jeep. They said it was $2,300 more because they did their “package” on it. I paused and went out to look. They tried charging for everything, new wipers, oil change, ceramic coating ect. Nothing was done and he stuttered and said it would have to come back for it all and its a mandatory charge. Its not and got it for the sale price. Dealerships are mental

Lmao, I call it the douche sticker.

This one is very amusing tho.

4k for a ceramic coating? For a lifetime warranty ceramicpro coating (top tier) and a paint correction is less, substantially. The 4k ceramic coating might as well say “valet cleaning special” aka, the guy that jockies the cars around the lot is given a hose and a broom and some soap, the GM says clean it, then it goes to a bay where they spray some environmental sealant on it. Totally worthless

Really $200 for nitrogen, can’t even verify that was done, they gonna charge for having the ac ran before you pick it up, air in the cabin also, “climate comfort $399”

Fuck them, hope they choke on it. The funny thing is all these idiot dealers who do this are paying out the ass now for floor plan finance rates on having that car on the lot for longer time “waiting for the right buyer”, which typically are variable rates.

The Sales Mgr and GM tho don’t see that, that’s back-office generally of course, so when they go to give Escher high fives after raping someone for 30k in ADM, they don’t care that they have already paid 10k to have the car there for 3 months.

I heard Chevydude (Youtuber) call it a "Ripoff Sticker" and that's what I've called it ever since. We went in looking at a Chevy Spark for my wife as a daily years back, and they had one of these stickers on every single car on the lot, even the Spark. It had the normal tint, nitrogen, etc. but what caught my eye was "Wheel Protection." The car had steel wheels and hub caps and they were trying to charge $2,000 for wheel protection. I called them out on it using some colorful language right in the middle of the showroom, every customer in there busted out laughing. I turned around and walked out, I will walk before I concede to one of these "dealer add on packages."

Had a similar experience with the TRX. Called because one was on the lot locally, asked if it was MSRP or marked up, and they said MSRP. I drove down the next morning to look at it, classic bait and switch tactic. They "forgot" to mention the additional add on sticker, essentially an 8-10k markup. This time it included a "ceramic coating" that looked like a child applied it, but charging $4,000. I immediately turned around and walked out, they chased me down and said I could order one for MSRP and they wouldn't tack on their extras. This was days before the order banks closed for '23 and we had a trade, so we took it. Would have much rather used a forum vendor but logistics just weren't right, but that's on me.
