S&B Intake Dyno Posted

I have reached out to S&B to ask. Personally, they have no reason to due to the demand of these units.
That’s what I figured.

How is the supercharger whine after adding this? Love the sound of it now, just don't want it overwhelming and overpowering the exhaust sound
It's more pronounced for sure if you have a stock exhaust. I don't notice it as much because my exhaust sort of overrides it.
Still a must have mod if you ask me

There’s already been a few independent dynos posted showing the same gains, but S&B finally posted their dyno info on their intake:
Great to finally get some dyno numbers. Thanks Rob for pointing this out. I had quit checking their site and had given up on S&B doing this. I wish they would dyno it without the acrylic cover on

No problem buddy

Who’s in socal a local shop in riverside it’s getting some in stock this week I already placed my order A lil more expensive than on the website but I couldn’t order from anywhere anyways since it’s CALIFORNIA 😅

I know this alone won't throw a CEL; and the Incognito pulley alone won't throw a CEL; but does anyone know if the combo of the two will?

They will not.

He admits hood up is not an accurate method of testing yet he does it anyway. There are fans available that blow 50-100 mph of air directly into the grill, simulating road speed with the hood down. Apparently they just haven’t invested in one.

2 things:

1) Who has an opinion on how inferior this setup is compared to stock when it comes to off-road dust filtration? It looks like a pretty good set up but I imagine we would see close to half of this horsepower gain just by changing to a drop in wet K&N style filter (for much cheaper).

2) Is it just me or would anyone else be sad to lose the T Rex under the hood? I have my “beauty cover” permanently removed so I get to see my Rex every few days! I guess i could get a sticker or an emblem to put on the S&B lol

Velocity does not equal CFM. Unless you’re testing in a full scale wind tunnel like those used for F1 then high velocity fans aren’t going to match.

That said, HP should go up if this was the case as you would then be getting the ram air effect into the hood scoop instead of blowing air across the ports.

Regardless, you don’t dyno to find the HP of an engine/drivetrain combination. You dyno to test the deltas between configurations. Since they use the same test method for both stock and aftermarket then the delta is accurate.

1. I believe someone on the forum did this and saw a 2hp change. There is another thread (actually several) on here discussing why PD style blowers benefit from the reduced flow restrictions on the intake side (I have posted some explanation and examples) and therefore why this intake setup (or the AFE) provide actual results with boost increases. Other than that, filtration is all based on the filter media type. You can choose to run an oiled or dry filter with S&B. A step up from stock.

2. Yes several members already have or are in the process of making their own extra clear lids with emblems on them. I ordered the TRX logo for mine personally and cut out an extra acrylic lid.

All that needs to be done is run a vacuum gauge before the throttle body. If no vacuum is present at WOT there is no restriction

You will never get to zero vacuum. The filter alone is likely around 1” of water vacuum and the location of the throttle body requiring a 180 deg bend is going to add some viscous losses right away. Vacuum gauge works nicely to show improvements but getting to true zero is akin to pipe diameter going to infinity.

Well then you could at least compare I suppose. Nobody does that test

where did you order a clear lid with trx logo from? would be a good option for me after ordering this intake setup

Correct. They do flow bench testing instead where the parameters aren’t the same. They typically do the inverse on the bench where they hold a specific vacuum and then see the corresponding CFM and estimate flow increases / restriction losses from there. There are previous posts about the specific vacuum losses for the AFE and S&B intakes that the vendors provided. I’m guessing they don’t plug in a high quality vac gauge during a dyno pull because those numbers wouldn’t sell product. People buy based on HP.

Can you PM me the shop?

Do you have a dry filter unit in stock?
If not, what is estimated delivery? Thanks!
