For those buying trucks out of state, are dealers charging a state to state convenience fee for the vehicle registration? Dealer is charging me $150 for their 3rd party company to complete the registration. They won’t allow me to register it myself in my home state. For obvious reasons.

When I bought my ‘21 Trackhawk back in February it cost me $200 to have them register it. First time I had to pay a fee just to register

I don’t agree with it. The dealer is collecting tax and registration fees to try to prevent people from flipping vehicles. I’m not here to flip the truck so why should I have to pay a fee just to register the darn thing?!

I agree its Bull. I was told I would get my $200 back once it was registered and I had my tags. But once I got tags they told me the $200 fee was for them registering it. Not what they told me when i bought the SUV. Only $200 so not a Big deal but i will never buy from them again. If they will lie about $200.

My trackhawk was purchased from a Ram dealership from Springfield,MO.

Consider the alternative…spend thousands more and buy in your home state.

Didnt have a choice in February there wasnt many choices for buying a new Trackhawk. And yes i had to pay a admin even though i traded in a ‘21 GT500 carbon fiber track pack with 225 miles

I ordered through Chapman and didn’t pay any tax or registration to them. Handlers it all at my states dmv. No extra fees or charges at all. Very happy with Tom, Steve, and Ashlie there!

That’s how it should be done.

All the dealers I've purchased my last 5 vehicles from have let me register my vehicle myself in my home state at my county treasurer office. And that includes 2 at my local in town dealer.

l'm not sure how that would come about ... l paid cash and was sent the mso ... dealerships will not accept an mso as title and the mso is not transferrable from what l heard ... so l dont see the advantage in dealers collecting the taxes and reg fees to stop flippers ... l dont mind the dealers collecting the taxes and reg. fees ... the only thing l would be concerned about is the bad stories l have heard that the titling took so long, the temp tag had expired and you weren't able to drive the vehicle till you did receive the tags ...

Got mine GA, I live in FL. they aren't charging me anything for this service. Just ask them to eat it.
