Recent Trade Value Feedback?

Stay away from the 6.4L. Go for V6 only and make sure production is in 2024 only. SOOOO MANY ISSSSUEEEESSSS!!! Dont look at the first two years' depreciation on the Wagoneer either.. The 22" RIMS bend VERY EASY and was the reason i did not refresh my 2022 with a 2023!
Appreciate your advice. My wife likes bmw x7, she is really into bmw’s. I will go look at an x7, and at a Mercedes GLE/GLS. I don’t like the fake leather in the Wagoneer but love all the space and tech. Still undecided what I’m going to do.

Perfect. Last thing regarding the "tech", Uconnect is another big reason why we left the Wagoneer (wanted to drive it off a bridge) as well BUT could have been my early production model so i will not create a bias. Just make sure you hit EVERY feature/button/function at least one time. Test the hell out of it. Including switching driver personas including chairs/easy exit seats/etc. My model was very glitchy with Uconnect and it drove me insane never having one consistence startup result without something not working properly. Dealership support was ATROCIOUS AS WELL! It was like we were pulling in a UFO every time we submitted to have issues resolved. Again, dont let my create a bias as every build is different!

Either way, great time to BE A BUYER, make them earn it! ;)

/RANT back to Trade in value for our beasts!

Youre trading a TRX for a bus??? Dude....
My wife is driving one of my Trx’s. I just bought a second one. So I’m considering an SUV which would be easier for her to drive our 2 year old around, get groceries, etc. I’m definitely keeping one of them in the garage

Nice!! Now that makes a ton of sense. We were looking at Wagoneers as well but was too big for the wife. Bought a two tone Grand Summit JGC instead and she’s a happy lady.

My wife drives an X7. Loves it! Got the ‘22 m50i. Amazing vehicle. Only issue (typical of German cars) is the value drops like a rock with mileage/age!
To the guys quoting trade in valuations. Please don’t include what you paid plus TT&T. Just use the pre tax numbers, if it will make you feel better. Just think, if you had a $100k vehicle to trade in on your TRX, then you would have paid very little (or no) tax to begin with…

Thanks for your input! That’s what I think my wife will pick too. Bmw’s do have pretty good basic warranty 4 years/50K miles. I don’t know if it would make sense to buy or lease.. I know I will be buying something else/upgrading the car in a couple years. I know I’ll keep my Trx till it shits the bed. But will keep upgrading the family car.

Vehicle prices have come down insanely over the last 6-8 months. Across the board. Dealers are also afraid to take in trades and are low balling everything. Carrying costs are through the roof for dealers and they are losing money on a lot of their inventory that hasn't moved in 30-60 days because the market has continued to come down leaving them bag holders on their inventory.

The kbb and nada numbers are ok for an idea but through a friend have been able to see wholesale dealer auction data. 102k sticker for 82k is a little low but not that far off. The retail on that car is low 90s so they want to make ~13% or so profit off the turn around.....realistically dealers have liked to make 7-10% but if they don't move your car right away.....that 13% window can drop quickly with interest and market correction.....and most dealers planning for 10% have been left with negative % if they hold it too long and the market continues to drop.

With that said I track TRX auction pricing aggressively. I haven't done a video on it like I have with the C8 Corvettes... been busy with work and not sure it would get a lot of views but this is the first month in probably 9 months where the avg selling price of the TRXs at auction has not gone down. Actually ticked up.....Assuming because production has ended so saw a similar trend reversal with the trackhawks and durango hellcats (first time) they went out of production. If the reversal holds next month...I'd say this may be the TRX bottom in the overall market drop and from here on out its normal value drop as miles and years age the vehicle.

OP, I can get a whole sale estimate number if you have a vin and region.

Barrett Jackson is usually stupid money. These two TRX’s sold for $105,000. I think the market has leveled out.

My wife drives an X7 and loves it, too! We leased it in 2019 and ended up buying it off lease after 3 years. BMW Financial is great with buyouts, lease swaps, etc. Only vehicles I have ever leased and I have had great experiences on probably 4 BMW leases. I got tired of losing a bunch of money in depreciated value when selling the BMWs I bought outright after a few years so I began leasing and it took a lot of that stress away in my case. Also less worry if someone hit me, etc. I had $16K in hail damage on an X6M and swapped it out with 6 months left on the lease for a new M8 Competition with no problem.

Just my thoughts.

On the original topic, in November I was offered $77K trade on my 2022 Level 2 with 30,000 miles on it. Haven't checked more recently.

QUESTION: Am I missing something, or are NADA and KBB NOT taking these "xx Editions" into differing value considerations? Depreciation curve is the same for all TRX models based on equipment levels/options/etc? Please correct me!

Updated 1: 2022 Ignition Edition (22k miles) is 2k more in trade-in value (vs matching specs without checking the Ignition box on KBB) so i am already proven wrong. BUT, those who pay the 10k extra, takes the bigger hit but thats as expected in depreciating assets!

Update 2: 2023 models have NO packages to choose from, thus my original question/case does apply for 2023.. But that might be because its too early/auctions/trades are not reflecting yet?

Huh…

My apologies, i am playing with https://www.kbb.com/whats-my-car-worth/ to determine how TRX values based on current market conditions. My goal was to determine if/by how much the Lunar editions/Havoc Editions/xx Editions (10k+ MSRP) with 20k miles depreciation rate/curve compares to the same NON "Edition" models with maxed out Level 2 ($10-15k less MSRP).

Understanding, of course, the limited build numbers might be taken into consideration but with most dealers in this market trying to stay out of bankruptcy (banks covering the current floor plan w/ CDJR bloated inventory and no incentives/rebates), they "might" NOT be honoring the "xxEdition" markup when the banks wont carry the liability on the floor plan if places like KBB/MMR arent playing that game either.

Thinking out loud..

Yeah, maybe it's too soon for the 2023 SE's. As far as initial cost difference vs trade-in values go for the 2023 SE's, it's almost a wash with a Peasant Edition with the same options. My Lunar Edition was $106k. Checking the same boxes on a Peasant Edition came out to roughly $1200 less. The 2023 SE's should be valued similar to the 2022 SE's, so the '23 SE's should fare pretty well.

I had two CDJR general managers tell me the colors holding the best resale right now are the Lunar and Sandblast. We are sitting pretty Idaho.

I just bought a sandblast with 9K miles from a dealer in Virginia for $91K. I imagine they acquired it for 80K or so.

Check it out with a black wrap of the roof. Love my Sandblast
