Is there a way to lock out 8th gear or 7th gear and the transmission will continue to automatically shift up to that point. I have not towed with a load yet but I don't see the truck being able to hold 8th gear while towing very well. All of my previous trucks could be shifted to manual and you could lock out a higher gear but the transmission would still shift normally up to the gear that was locked out.

Yes you can. There are two buttons on the right spoke of the steering wheel. They are marked + & - . Once your in drive you can hit the minus button until you get to the desired gear.

Thanks for the info. I have not noticed the buttons!

not on the TRX. Either use the paddles or slide the console shifter over into sport and select the highest desired gear that way

I just looked and agree. The problem is it goes to manual mode so you would have to manually shift it unless there is some other way I have not found?

Now that I think about it, there is no way to limit the top gear like the regular 1500's without having to manual shift it.

Put it in tow mode it did not go into 8th

I’ve noticed when towing it doesn’t care what’s behind it at all. Matter of fact, it is like there is nothing behind it even at speeds in the triple digits. The transmission does its thing and I don’t worry about it at all.

Sorry, assumed it would be the same as my 2016 ram
