I’m anticipating my ’23 will be available for pickup at Dan Cummins of Georgetown early in the New Year.

While pickup may not actually be feasible (new kiddo on the way…), I’d like to start planning anyways.

The trip is looking like 14 hours one way.

I’m curious if anybody has any recommendations of places to stop along the way? Routes to avoid? Routes worth an extra few miles of road tripping?

Any places around Georgetown that are worth exploring?

Cincinnati has newport aquarium thats not too bad. It is just north so might be out of the way a few miles. There are some great places to eat in Lexington. There is also a nice “castle” in versailles that is now a hotel I think. This a video I took going past it a couple weeks ago

You could stop at the Mason Dixon line. Get out, stretch your legs, shake all the Yankee off of you, then go on your way.

Just kidding, just kidding. I know it doesn't shake off.
The north won 🤣

I wouldn't stop other than for fuel. A 14 hour drive is fairly long as it is.

But I'd do it with the TRX on a trailer, then break the gears in correctly once home.

The Arc Encounters is about 35 miles north of Georgetown. It is really cool.

No, actually its not. Huge waste of time and money. Plus the discriminatory hiring practices and cheating the city, county and state out of tax dollars. Building a imaginary boat about a flood that never happened claiming millions of animals fit in with no ventilation or food is nothing you should spend money to see especially when the whole flood story was plagiarized from The Epic of Gilgamesh written hundreds of years before they claimed it happened. I actually laughed when I read Ken Ham was suing the insurance over… rain damage 😂😂 he is a known con man and has been kicked out of a few countries for it.

I’m not certain I’d do both legs in a straight shot anyways. Heck, I haven’t even decided if I’m trading in my current truck or selling it privately.

So flying in might be in the cards.

I’ve heard break-in should be more stop and go driving also; but I haven’t dug too far into that. I’ll do a bit more research (as shipping could be an option too).

W/e you do dont confirm wherever you're going to spend the night or sig amount of time in the thread. The forums will have you (and now me) very anxious about your truck getting stolen so just avoid posting when/where you'll be as crazy as that sounds!

Well: that’s part of the reason behind this post: to see if I should be avoiding any particular area.

Or get an anti theft installed or bring some things with you, faraday bag ect. Most of the return trip is through small towns until you get to the maryland/jersey area.

If you plan on following the break-in procedure that will likely affect the route you take also. From what I recall, the break-in procedure required keeping the truck under 55mph for the first 100 miles and under 70mph for the next 200 miles.

I’m researching the theft options now (thanks for your reply in the other thread!)

I’ll have to look more into the faraday bags: what’s the purpose: to prevent a repeater from working?

Correct: I was thinking maybe I could pick it up earlier in the day, then do some day trips around KY to rack up the first 100 miles (I saw somebody mention the Whiskey trail, but I’m not sure how far out of my way it’d be to hit a few stops).

The second 200 miles would probably be under 70mph anyways (need to get used to the big truck).

I’d just fly drive in the day prior, pick up first thing in the morning and then get on the road home. Drive the first 100 miles at 55mph and admire the 18mpg you will never see again and then it’s pretty much normal driving speeds from that point on.

I brought mudflaps, a roll of Xpel tracwrap to protect the front end real quick and two faraday bags.

Correct, it blocks the proximity send/receive so someone can’t relay/clone the signal. There are a couple IGLA/drone x1 max installers on the route you’re taking if thats the anti theft you’re interested in. I am almost exactly 100 miles from dan cummings or there are 2 or 3 in your route area. I can point you to wherever you want. A faraday bag would the minimum I would do though.

I used to live in Providence! Welcome, youll love the truck. Live in CT now. If you drive downtown with the TRX its gonna feel awfully big lol

Gotta get a pic of your new rig by the Washington Monument!

It’s not out of the question to fly in: once I get a better date idea, I can start looking into a trade vs selling my current truck locally.

Also: I think the dealership is about an hour away from the airport? I’d have to figure out how to get from one place to the other.

I appreciate that. How long is the install?

I need to research a bit more too: I’m not sure what I’d be getting into (warranty issues, where to get the IGLA serviced locally if needed, etc.).

Yea: it certainly is a concern of mine. Going in town will be a whole lot more difficult, especially when it comes to finding safe parking.

I figured I’d be dealing with the same issues if I ended up with a Super Duty/Heavy Duty though, so I didn’t give it a ton of consideration.

You can look up the factory break-in procedure on line, but maybe more importantly, also what gear manufacturers recommend for breaking in the diffs.

For a Faraday bag, aluminum foil works well.
