We have a prototype being built as we speak. It’s designed to fit in the front stake pockets of the bed. This will require cutting the access cover off the stake pockets, but they still will be a no drill install. These should work with all bed cover designs! We’ll keep you guys updated once we confirm fitment

Instead of cutting out the front stake pockets could these be installed in the rear stake pockets?

That’s a great design. We considered doing a rear stake pocket version for bed covers. The problem with the rear stake pockets is they have an awkward access hole placement for a no drill install.

If we made a bracket that is a clamp style fit like shown in that link, it could work, but we’d have to extend the brackets outwards to clear bed covers that sit on top of the bedsides. At that point we don’t feel like they would be as aesthetically appealing.

Here is a prototype of a bed rail mounted bracket that works with the factory bed cover. You can see how much the bed cover goes over the rear stake pockets. We understand cutting the front stake pockets isn’t ideal for everyone, but our brackets will cover the holes up and should look very clean. If someone were to wish to remove them and want to “cover up” the front stake holes, new bed rail trim are relatively affordable at about $40 per side.

To be honest we never thought there would be so much demand for bed cover compatible chase lights as bed covers don’t typically hold up in an off-road setting where you’re running chase lights. We appreciate your feedback! Keep the ideas coming if you have more to add

I like the idea of chase lights even in slow speed applications. If I was doing a Baja run I’d take the cover off.

I think I envisioned the light being more directly behind the cab of the truck than sticking out to the side. Maybe if the part of the mount that sticks to the side went straight back instead?

The tricky part with it going straight back is clearance for bed covers that roll up or tri fold and sit on top of the bed sides. The other factor is light compatibility, if we try squeezing something in between the cab and bed that clears a bed cover you may be only limited to a small light like a Baja Designs S1. Anything bigger than that you would run the risk of the light contacting the cab during heavy off-road use when the bed and cab are “dancing” and that large gap for clearance engineered from the factory is being utilized.

Our goal is to make something that’s compatible with majority of the bed covers on the market. We’re gonna build another prototype that allows you to mount the light inboard for a more “tucked” look or outboard (like the current prototype). This new option will still allow for an antenna mount as well. Thanks for your continued feedback! We’ll keep you updated

Our prototype testing is complete and our new stake pocket Chase light brackets are in production, expect 1-2 weeks until they’re on the site! Here’s a few pictures of them, many different mounting options available including an antenna mount. S2’s can be mounted inboard or outboard with the optional brackets. No additional brackets needed if running S1’s. These will work with 99% of bed covers too!

We have not mounted anything that large on there, but if those use 3/8” mounting hardware they should fit on the S2 brackets. Clearance should not be an issue since the brackets are slotted horizontally and vertically and you can mount them inboard or outboard

I was thinking the Rigid 360 because there’s an option for the light to be amber or white. I’m note sure what other lights have the same option?

We have different amber lens covers for some of our Baja Designs lights that allow for quick tool free “color swaps” on the fly for various conditions. You can also swap the entire lens over to different colors or patterns fairly quickly too with just 4 screws on most their lights. Lots of lighting options out there right now!

I was looking at the Rigid 360 in Amber and White because of my current setup. My thought was the Amber lights could come on with the kit from @Shifts_And_Grins while the white could come on with the backup lights I got from Boosted when he was still active.
