Montana vehicle registration

No sales tax in Montana. I think when I registered my TRX it was around $700 for the first year. Of course I live in Missoula which has a higher vehicle tax then say Kalispell which is about 100 miles north.
Hum I don't recall it being that high but I could be wrong too. I do know it's nowhere NEAR what my hellcat costs to register it when I lived in Komifornia.

Dan, I pay more than my share of taxes... I have no problem paying taxes last year over half a Mill in freakin taxes. But if there are loopholes that exist that allow me to mitigate the sales tax burden on as many vehicles as I purchase without breaking the law. I have no problem utilizing said loophole.

Re: your last statement move somehwere that isnt a shithole. I invite you to come visit my 25 acres here in aledo, Texas you'll see my place is as close to Gods country as you will find anywhere in this great nation.
But register car to other state avoid tax is illegal in Texas, probably all the states :ROFLMAO:

With that said, South Dakota only have 4% taxes and it doesn't require you buy thru LLC, you can just use your name.
And their plates are better, Texas default plate is the ugliest I have seen...

The biggest risk is when you register your car in Montana, your insurance will be in Montana, don't if they found out you always in California, will they still pay you claim?

Not sure that's 100%, I drive over state lines all the time and that doesn't mean it stops working. Going into Mexico or Canada sure, but the US is the US.

I have USAA. USAA knows I live in TX and had no problem insuring the 2 vehicles (2021 GT500 and 2022 Escalade) i have registered in Montana.

USAA sets up a new policy for the vehicles registered in montana.

Not illegal to register a car in another state.

Where most people have issues not setting up the proper entities as well as not informing the company insuring the car is registered in another state.

This is a mute point if your financing any portion of the vehicle as no lending institution will permit you to register in any other state.

Not sure anywhere in Texas is what I'd call God county but to each there own. I've been allover Texas and can't say as I'd ever want to live there. FYI not saying seattle is great either can't wait to leave but it's due to politics not the country side
I concur to each there own. I had a great time in Seattle for 2 or 3 days... then it started smelling like fish.

Im a native Texan and lived in Aledo from 1987-2004. Still live in the Parker County area today. The 90s is the time frame when you would have wanted to live in Aledo. Any time after that…not so much. Living there right now? No thanks. As for it being “God’s country”….it sure as hell ain’t that. Not even close. It wasn’t that in the 90s but it was much closer to it back then than it is now. There are places in TX far closer to that experience than Aledo.

The way it should be. Prevent dishonest people from trying to cheat the system. Just be honest and pay taxes where you live. If you can’t afford to pay taxes where you live, then you can’t really afford the vehicle. Buy a vehicle you can afford to pay taxes on👍🏽
You sound like my friends in the teachers unions here in CA. Sorry, when sales tax goes into double digit territory on vehicles, that is just punative. I live in a blue state and they cannot stop themselves from passing almost every new tax proposed. If you only buy your car once a decade, you may not care, as a car enthusiast, I like to trade vehicles every couple years. Sorry, $15K in tax on a vehicle I am keeping only for a while isn't gonna happen.
