Hi all! Mean Joe here and proud owner of a “brand new to me” 2021 TRX, all black like my soul …. I started looking for a pickup about 9 months ago and assumed a TRX was not going to be a realistic option for me (budget wise), but then this beauty fell in my lap in late July and spurred a “what the heck you only live once!” moment. Flash forward to today and I could not be happier or more convinced I made the right decision to get my “dream truck.”
I live in northern Virginia (Falls Church) and drove my truck to Jacksonville for Labor Day - have never had more fun driving! Getting ready to adventure around the woods of Maine next month and can’t wait to get this monster on some logging roads.

Funny start to my TRX life … when I received the keys there was a small fob attached that I had no idea what it did. Kept forgetting to ask the dealer about it and eventually image searched on Google, the results of which were not clear but sure looked like it was just a fob for accessing someone’s community pool or something innocuous like that - figured it must have been left by the previous owner. So I threw it out (back story: I NEVER throw anything out and my wife is trying to get me to clear out stuff … so let’s start with this fob!)….
Well … next day, truck will not start and is showing a strange warning about off road calibration being off etc (yeah, I now know what that means!) - I researched all over, including this Forum, and thought it needed to be recalibrated by the dealership. I made zero connection to the strange fob…. So I had my baby towed to the dealer.
Two days later the dealership calls and says they need to order a device to replace the gadget that communicates with the vehicle computer or whatever. I say “you know, I don’t think this has anything to do with the starting issue, but there was this little fob attached to the main key fob.
Dealer: “OH THAT’S THE KILL SWITCH!”
Me: “my truck has a KILL SWITCH!?!?”
Thankfully, trash day was not until the following morning … so I dumped my kitchen trash out on a blanket and, sure enough, found that kill switch.

Truck starts beautifully ever since

And that’s why my truck is named Kill Switch ….

It is exactly that: an IGLA fob, which I now know a whole lot more about!

In the paperwork with the truck, you should have received a card that has the Igla info on it (including the emergency pin code). If you didn't, you might try contacting @Air’d outSRT to see if they can find the info based on your VIN. You really need to have another method for authorizing it beyond the fob that could be lost or damaged.

Thanks, yes - after this incident the dealer found the IGLA paperwork and thankfully I now have that … also had to replace the battery in the fob which started dying (and gave me a couple more days of agita when it wouldn’t start …) New fob battery did the trick - and now I keep spare fob batteries around too!

Ok, good. I assume you programmed a new pin code too, which is the most important part.

I knew right away you were describing an IGLA fob. The good news is, we don’t have to tell you to get extra security on the truck.

Well, a neutral plate cover wouldn’t hurt along with a couple of AirTags. One AirTag in the center console or glove box intentionally easy to find, and one mounted in a weather proof AirTag case that’s nearly impossible to find for obvious reasons.

Congrats on the truck! Now start with some mods, 702hp gets to feel like a base norm before you know it.

If he doesn’t have the emergency card there is no way to get it. Another reason I left IGLA and went to the better unit and company. If he doesn’t have it or the pin he will be screwed if that fob stops working. Gladly thats not the case with SPYNEX

Use the pin, fob especially attached to a factory key defeats the purpose of having a security system.
