Level 2 Rear Reclining Seats

Interesting. I’ve actually considered downgrading to a base ram rear seat. Car seats don’t do anything good for leather.
I’ll be putting my Level 1 rear seat for sale if I can successfully do the swap. Its leather though lol

I know it was mentioned briefly early in this thread. I don’t think the holes line up the same for bolting the seats down but the welded in nutserts will be there. I saw that on a thread on 5th gen forums, You will just have to expose them. I’m assuming you already bought the rear seat latches that go on the rear wall. Look into it but I think there might also be added parts to cover the rear wall when the seats are folded down that don’t come as part of the rear seats.

Yeah I bought those latches from @OnTheReel a while back. I just got to find bolts from the seats and can walk if I can use the ones current ones.

I was thinking posting it $500 to recoup some of the money spent on the new one

I wanted the reclining for may two kids that are always with me, as well as a nicer center console for them. I haven’t even considered climate control of the seats but if the heated seat option could work back there that would be awesome. Sucks that wasn’t an option on the Level 1 smh.
Wish my parents or anybody really cared enough to make sure I had a reclining passenger seat..ha...Good luck with the project!! Cheers

just need to detail the interior to finish up, but the reclining is significant enough that it was worth the hassle. If there was a way for the heated seats to be wired to work it would be perfect.

looks great. There is a way for the heated seats to be wired, but it would require a lot of work. Need the switches that go in the back of the center console. Either a hole new harness for the center console or you have to make one. Then you need to make new harnesses that go bak to the seats. You could even make the cooled function in them work.

I’ve contemplated it, but I can tell you that the cooled function of them won’t work. You would have to add some wiring and replace the switches in the rear of your center console. It’s definitely not a priority for me because I hardly ever have someone in the rear seats so besides the ability to brag that my truck has these heated and cooled reclining seats I don’t have any practical need to spend the money. Not saying that is why you want them, That would just be the benefit for me(my truck is a level zero that has many level 2 options added)

on a side note, when I added the wiring to get my heated seats and heated steering wheel to work I also added the wiring for the front cooled seats so if I was to ever come across a set of level 2 front seats for a price I can’t pass up I might take the plunge.
When you added the wiring for heated & cooled seats, did you source wiring from a donor vehicle? How hard was it to add the new wires and get everything working?
In my 21' base, I've added level 2 seats and I would like to get the heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel working(need to change the clock spring).

Also my level 2 seats came with spliced harness with all of the wiring, I believe XY420A and the drivers side. Wondering if it would be easier to add wiring to these spliced ones.

I made my own harnesses to pin into the existing connectors. I had previously made harnesses to add front and rear parking sensors so I did not find this to be hard. There was a lot of research on my end with AllData to figure everything out and to make sure it was correct.

I personally don't think it would be beneficial to use the connectors that were cut out of the original truck. In my case (21 Level 0 TRX) all the wires needed were in the IP Harness. I just needed to add the wires into the body harness. Also yes you need to swap the clock spring and steering wheel, again on my truck all the necessary wiring was there to plug into the new clock spring

Than you for the reply back!
I have the wiring diagrams, so I think I will go the same route.
The wiring you used, was that some specific wiring? Do you have product numbers/store where you purchased them?

Hey all - new here but not new to forums. Piggy-backing onto this thread since there was recent mention of wiring, which is my main obstacle (at least i believe, for now).

I’m interested in swapping TRX level 2 seats and console into a much older truck. My concern is whether the heat/cool functions need signal from the trucks computer (in addition to a power source) or if they just operate off of a power source?

If anyone has link to another thread where this has been discussed or others have retro-fitted these seats into another vehicle, that would be awesome

@trxprojectfix if you dont mind, can you share the wiring diagram?

I can’t answer as well as some other members like @Jimmy07 , but yes there is a module under the front passenger seat that talks with the BCM to control the front seats and steering wheel. For the rear seats there is another control module in one of the rear seats. I’m guessing you can figure out how to bypass the control modules but then comes in the question of how do you get the different heat and cool levels with just a power on power off switch.

Appreciate the response, will
Have to figure out what signal the bcm is sending.

As for the levels of hot/cold, i was planning to use the center console as well so that would have the switches. I was hoping with a power source to the switches, they could drive the heat/cool functions.

my alldata subscription is out and I don’t have any good reason to renew it so I can’t look and give you schematics, but I’m almost positive there is a control module for the rear seats which would make the switches in the center console more difficult to use, but I assume not impossible.
