Larger IC coolant tank /radiator reservoir

I can't entirely agree. The ONLY section of hose that measures close 1" is the quick connects for the factory pump. If look at that factory hose, you will see that the END is necked up for the pump, but the rest of the hose is 3/4. Doesn't make any sense to have the pump at 16an while the rest of the hoses are restricted down to 12an or 3/4.
If you measure the ID of the braided hose it’s closer to the 3/4” than it is to 1” so it’s a much closer match to stock.
 
That may be the case, but the plastic hose adapters included that are used with the braided hose are way too small, and it is never a good idea to use hose clamps to hold together a braided AN hose. Certainly not the proper way. Like I said, I like the tank itself and the mounting, but the install hoses and fittings are less than ideal.

So going bigger isn’t always better…
But sometimes it is…

When I was designing the transmission fluid and engine oil coolers to be relocated to the bed of my prerunner I got lucky and am acquaintances with the guy behind the factory race team that runs similar cooking set up (only to be taken down with quick disconnects before the press gets to it)

Anyways he warned me about not going to big on the lines to keep the pressure up.

I don’t know if the intercooler hoses are short enough where volume matters over pressure.

But I’m learning a ton on this thread!

I also have the FI drop in IC pump, so extra volume will certainly assist with any pressure decrease.
 
Bringing up this old topic. Have the F1 I’m looking to install and have a few questions for some of you who have installed these expansion tanks.

1) Is the stock tank still needed or can it be removed?
2) if I refill the tank and add fluid to the disconnected lines will the system bleed itself or do I need to bleed them
