I’m pissed (20k over msrp - California)

Just curious: why are dealers able to sell so cheap if you order vs taking one off the lot? Does it have to do with Stellantis dealership incentives?
Based on what I’ve observed here, a non-insignificant percentage of people who order with these dealers end up losing patience and buy off the lot. Others order multiple and only take delivery of the first to get built. These scenarios allow the dealer take delivery of a ”customer ordered” vehicle that they would otherwise not get via allocations which they can then sell at MSRP or above.

I’m tired of the 20k over msrp BS. I’m ready to buy now. But once I reach 120k I start thinking of other cars.

Every god damn dealer that actually have TRX on lot wants 120k.

I hate to do this to businesses but if 200 people start leaving them 1 Star reviews they’ll wake up maybe 👿

Maybe a dealer here can explain the mark up in California?

And now I’m reading about lemon laws if I buy outside of California. Harder to make a decision now.
Lampe Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Visialia is MSRP only. I got my Ignition last December at MSRP.

I have two TRXs, a LE and a 22, both bought in NorCal. Most dealers up here are not 20k. Most are about 10 for trucks on the lot and a handful will order at MSRP.

They likely only get 1 or 2 stock allocations of TRXs and want to make what they see as the most profit they can on the few they get. Other dealerships (notably the ones that we all talk about on here) push through as many customer sold orders as possible at a small yet fair profit. This in turn increases their dealer stock allocation numbers (which are awarded on volume sold) so that they are able to order more on lot vehicles to sell to walk up customers. It is more work though than just sitting on your ass waiting for a couple of impatient suckers to show up to overpay for the few vehicles you have to sell. It's really just 2 different sales models, high volume/fair profit vs low volume/high profit. The second of which was pretty common during the covid interregnum as there wasn't much inventory to sell.
I’ll sell you my 22’ for 95k in Cali
Why are you selling?

I don’t buy used just curious

You better off going and buying from carvana than those 20k upcharge dealerships

Who did you buy them from?

I’m moving out of state soon. I’m just testing waters. I’ll keep the truck unless I get a good deal that’s all. Other than that, the truck is amazing and I plan on keeping it forever if it doesn’t sell. Also im from California, and I bought mine from granger in Iowa. You can save 9k off msrp and ship it for around $1500. (Chose to drive mine back)

I got a 22 for 90 with like 3700 miles in Newport Beach
level 2 and carbon
Consider selling kind of want to get new raptor or super duty

This is happening with a lot of different dealers. We tried to purchase a Mercedes GLS63 AMG and the dealer had a dealer added market value"DAMV" on the sticker of 100k over MSRP. Ford dealer reputation is getting wrecked because of the DAMV they are adding on lightning orders. It's everywhere.

'round these parts we use the term - ADM. :ROFLMAO:

I ordered and bought my '21 for MSRP in San Diego. Just like most of us, I had to wait, but it was worth it.

Last year, my truck was in the shop for 90 days waiting on a new shock from Bilstein and they were willing to order me another one at MSRP for the months that the ETA of the shock was "unknown". That might have been a pity offer, but had the shock not come in right when I was getting really pissed, I would have taken it.

Trust me- most TRX owners in CA are not voting blue. I am here because my last 2 tours in the Navy were in San Diego before I retired and my wife owned her own successful veterinary hospital. It was a business decision that is paying off and bought me a nice truck. Doesn't mean I vote blue or am as crazy as a lot of people out here.

I feel your pain. Trying to build a 23’ and everyone around me wants $15-$20k markup. Smh.
