How do you get your money?

High school, C student, community college trade school to become an electrician. Apprentice, Journeyman, Foreman, Manager, Region Manager. Started my own company newly married, first of three daughters, mortgaged house to start my company specializing in critical industrial facilities, computer rooms, Mission Control facilities, DoD facilities requiring top secret clearances, etc…….

Sold company to my employees and retired early at age 55, never to need to work again. The only reason that I’m sharing my story is because a below average kid who graduated high school with a C average and went on to trade school and worked harder than anyone else and eventually become the owner of a company doing $100 million a year is obtainable by just about anyone given hard word, dedication, god and luck.

A friend of mine once said intensity isn’t for everybody and neither is success. Stay focused and keep your eyes on the prize.

I applied for a job starting in August, when my youngest goes to preschool full-time. Apparently putting a picture of my junk in with the CV was not considered appropriate.
I told them that I disagreed because that’s how I’ve been sustaining myself for the last seven years

Just a blue collar dummy that didn’t like school, ibew lineman
Great job, I wanted to do this as well but didn’t get hired because of lack of high voltage experienc. Worked IBEW 11 in downtown Los Angeles doing nothing but big machinery and large production plants. Came home every night dirtier than shit that I freaking love that job, you’re doing good things for good people!

Apparently they are in need of male stars in Japan

Kind of like Cromin8tor, I worked my ass off, got a piece of paper from a public university, founded a couple mobile automotive diagnostic and ADAS calibration companies, a remote diagnostic company, an ADAS tool company, and hold a couple patents. My sons currently run day-to-day operations. We must be doing something right because we are being approached to expand overseas operations and we have a booth at SEMA this year. My current role is to figure out ways to put a little more meat in our beans.

Oooh I haven’t been through this thread yet, should be a wild ride… Dredging it up so I don’t have to keep bumping my own trainwreck. You’re welcome.

I was an exec chef when I bought the TRX. Turns out, I perform magic in the kitchen, streamline processes like a mf, and I’m fast as fuck, boiii … but a leader I am not. I pretended for over a decade, and then I rage quit with no other job lined up. 3 months after I financed the TRX.

*Chaos and struggle ensue for the next 2 years*

These days, I work in a legal office. The salary is almost the same as chef, but low stress environment, and the benefits and perks are worth it. I’m a legal assistant on paper, but what I actually am is a personal assistant to a stupid rich semi-retired attorney. He’s a dinosaur and refuses to learn how to email or type up his own books, so I am his email. His word processor. His printer of the entire internet. I take all the virtual courses he signs up for so I can condense the material into bite-size chunks to spoon feed him. Astronomy, life-coaching, Stoic philosophy, Jungian philosophy, all the philosophies. DAMMIT I wish he was into learning about trucks.

I was able to start a private chef service with the generous retirement contribution I cashed out earlier this year. I have exactly one client so far.

Husband has only given me $300 toward the truck in the 3 years I’ve had it, btw, and only then because it was in jeopardy of being repo’d last year. I also pay the insurance on both our vehicles. He makes like half what I do. He’s also 10 years younger than I am, and not a citizen, which complicates matters. We’re not officially married, but we’re working on it so he doesn’t get deported. Oh, also he’s a really good dude, if a little lacking of ambition. We’ve been together 13 years and have 2 boys, 12 and 9. I am 45.

I tried keeping it brief, I really did. 😭

Picture of the scratches my husband left on the truck when he scraped the neighbor's shed. I don't have security footage of him doing it so I can't prove to you it wasn't me. But I was the one who gave the gun to the baby, so it was basically my fault. It's mostly all paint, but the top scratch goes all the way into the metal. 🙁

Yup, that one might win the "strangest post" of the year award.
Holy unsolicited resurrection of a 2023 thread Batman..........randomly strange, with a dash of awkward life story TMI thrown in for good measure. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
BTW, nice update to the screen name!
