HK dash corner speaker crackle

Installed two front corners and wow what a difference. I didn't notice how muddy the stock HK sounded until I heard the 3032's. It's very clear and the loudness is pretty much the same as HK but just 10x clearer. I had the stock HK at +5 treble/mid and the 3032 in was able to bump up to +9 treble/mid without any distortions.

Here you can hear the clarity as I fade from left (HK) to right (3032). It's night and day difference!!

These speakers are on Amazon for 2 PAIRS at $78 so I'm going to change the center dash and rear headliners as well. You also need the Metra 72-7902 harness.

Thank you @OnTheReel and @Sinister4 for the help. It's awesome to have so many knowledgable members on here!!
Pretty cool for sure you sure notice it on the high end, and got rid of all the mud down low as well, Infinity used to make a even better version of this little speaker but discontinued it years back can you post a shot of the stock HK speaker ? like to see the hunk of crap they installed lol now to find replacements for the big door speakers, thanks for posting your results !!!

here are the old ones https://www.crutchfield.com/S-AyrlP3qt7tC/p_1083032CF/Infinity-Reference-3032cf.html

That’s an awesome price on those Infinity’s thru Amazon. Very tempting to give them a try, especially since the volume loss isn’t substantial.

Its always interesting, you are given a blank slate to do the sound system and you cant even get the curve right, you would think the best overall setting would start at the EQ setting dead flat, should be perfect sound to at least ¾ volume level, but no you totally screw the pooch and we have to adjust and change tons of stuff. How hard would it be to use a 1500 watt+ (into 8 ohm) amp and a real woofer box right off the bat ??? Oh and add a shitton of sound deadening to boot. Think the Mercedes top level Burmester systems.......

They definitely didn’t do a very good job tuning this system. And giving us more than a 3 band EQ to play with would have been nice.

for sure no big thing to put in a 10-15 band eq and why not chuck in a DSP as well ??

Guess they think we are too dumb for such things. And most people probably are. They see "19 speakers" and "900 watts" and are immediately dazzled because they don't know any better. Everything is just marketing fluff. Since GM and Ford's systems are no better (actually worse), we are just kinda stuck.

Deff give it a shot. Install is easy and worse case you can always return it with amazon. Once u increase the mid and treble volume is about the same and vocals are very clear. This is coming from someone who always listens at 30+ volume.

I will add that doing some tests the only way to go is Fat32 format and be sure to use FLAC totally uncompressed, night and day over sirrus or any mp3

Oh yea definitely. I only listen to .m4a and flac on my flash drive.

Only problem I have now is I feel like the door speakers can’t keep up with the front. Wish I can replace the 3.5 on the doors also but I don’t know if it will fit.

I "think" the door has a molded cup so it would be a big deal trying to fit anything else in there, however it would be interesting to do a full range 6x9 in the lower location.... after my FLAC tests and my normal volume of 16-25 im just leaving mine stock and live with it. Figures its that or sink 10K++ in it lmao

Man stop giving me ideas lmaooo. Is the lower door a two way speaker? What type is it and do you recommend any 6x9's

Yeah, unfortunately the upper door will only fit the stock speaker or possibly something like a “non-automotive” 2-3” full range driver with a neo magnet from PartsExpress.

The lower door isn’t full range. Just a one-way 6x9 woofer that’s low passed at the factory amp. I don’t think from an imaging standpoint I’d want it to be full range anyway, unless shear volume is the only goal. Either way you’d be looking at adding an amp to make that happen and losing ANC in the process.

Do you recommend any 6x9 woofers for the door with stock amp? I cant find any in 6x9 all I see is two way speakers. Maybe get a bracket to convert a 6.5 woofer to 6x9?

AudioFrog GS690 is about the nicest 6x9 anyone makes but there are clearance issues using them in this truck. CDT Audio also makes a pretty good slim carbon fiber 6x9 that drops right in. But ANC would need to be bypassed and you may see a reduction in volume.

Otherwise good 6.5s are plentiful. When I had a system in this truck I had Focal KX2s and they rocked but will need amplification to get the best out of them. Ultimately life took me in another direction (new baby among other things) and I needed ANC back so I’m all stock HK at the moment. But I’ve been down the rabbit hole plenty.
