I've sold several other "specialty" trucks in the past and had buyers fly in, I picked them up at the airport, we drove to the bank to deposit the check, sign the title over, and notarize a bill of sale (even though most states just need the title, it's an easy step and saves any hassle after the fact if for some reason that respective state's DMV gives anyone trouble over the purchase price) and then they drove the trucks home. One was my second 2000 HD truck that had 25k miles on it and that guy flew in from GA and drove it home, the other was my red 2004 Lightning with 40k miles on it and he flew in from IL and drove it home. Since they were dealing with the inconvenience of flying in and driving many hours home, as part of the deal I covered the costs of their flights, I picked them up at the airport in the truck, and flying into Philly and being a cheesesteak fanatic myself, I've also bought the guys Philly Cheesesteaks lol.
Just curious, what rate is your CU at? On my new truck I got 5.29% with Navy Fed CU, and they just cut a check without anything at all on the vehicle itself, I have to fill out the VIN# and vehicle info and all that and mail that back in. Could be different on new vs. used but pretty sure it was similar when I bought my 04 SRT10 a few years ago and originally financed the up front buy from them. On some prior trucks I've bought used and financed, I've had one or two where I just got the easiest/quickest loan even if it wasn't the lowest rate (just because I was in a crunch to scoop the truck up), then I immediately refinanced it thru the place with the lower rate that was a little more involved to get processed. Since it's already titled in your name from the first purchase, the refi is easy and I'd only be out the $80 title fee for NJ (which I assume varies by state). Just something else to consider. May cost a few extra bucks but could help you get a truck you really want whether this one or another one, and still save all the money on a lower rate because you can usually refi it before the first payment is even due.
Worth while to shop around with other CUs though to see if others don't have that in-person rule, it's unusual to have to have both folks there in person since a lot of sales happen across states. Or perhaps double check if that CU gets a notarized bill of sale and a copy of the signed over title is that sufficient.
If you are interested and wanted any other pics or walk around vid or anything else, just let me know. I'm sure I can work out the same deal as other trucks I've sold and cover the flight in and pick you up at the airport (with Philly Cheesesteaks to go lol) if you'd want to fly in and drive it home.
And since we're on the subject and I'm nostalgic....pics of my red 04 L and black 00 HD that I've sold to out of state buyers that flew in....and missed the trucks....because I've since bought, drove, and sold 4 other Lightnings (gray 03, black 01, black 00, and black 99), and 2 other harley trucks (two black 03s) over the years....the other trucks I've sold were all local or within a close enough range that I just dropped them off. I can see myself ending up in another TRX someday too once I can build a 40x60 shop to fit more vehicles and not have to cycle thru a couple at a time till I get an itch for another one lol)
